If there could be anything said about last week, it would be irony. Two weeks ago, Fenerbahce got three points with a goal right at the final whistle. Last week, Fenerbahce had to settle for a draw after Ankaraspor scored one in the death phase of the game. Both the victor and the victim so to speak. The draw had unfortunate consequences, as with Galatasaray's win, Fenerbahce is basically in a first place tie and only leading the league based on goal difference. This week, Fenerbahce comes back to the Canary Nest in order to take on Denizlispor.

Gokcek Vederson will not be playing in this match due to yellow card accumulation. He's been sucking lately so it could be a blessing in disguise. With the players Zico has at his disposal, I would guess he could start Onder Turaci or if Roberto Carlos is healthy and ready, RC could take that position. Regardless, Denizli have been historically been a thorn in the side of Fenerbahce, at least within the last few years. So Fenerbahce will have to win this before the Battle of Turkey next week against Galatasaray.

Vederson is out, and I'm reading that Roberto Carlos has returned to Brazil?!?! :(

I guess OOger could fill in at LB, but I really want to know what's going on with Roberto? He gets a deep cut on his shin and he's out for over a month?!?!

That is really strange, being out for a month from a cut on your shin. Or maybe he has other slight knocks and Zico wants to make sure he's 100% by the time the Gala clash comes?

Neyse I can't seem to make sense of it either.

I dunno what you guys are thinking of Carlos but im guessing it's a really serious injury. Im scared that the same thing will happen to Carlos that happened with Appiah.

Bite your tongue, Cambs.

I wonder whether things would've been different now if Carlos played against Chelsea..

Anyway, I miss watching Carlos play. Does anybody have any concrete news on whether he will play against Denizli?

All this negativity isn't really helping.

Carlos won't be playing against either Denizlispor or Galatasaray, he's in Brazil until next weekend;

Roberto Carlos Brezilya’ya gitti
14 Nisan 2008 Pazartesi

His injury isn't a cut on his shin, the challenge he suffered could've snapped his leg into two pieces, it was studs high and down directly onto the bone, not too different from Taylor's challenge that broke Eduardo's leg (although the pure intent wasn't there with the Sevilla player while it was clear with Taylor that ****).

Carlos played against Kayserispor, only lasted about 55 minutes and immediately put ice on his leg because it was swelling up. A simple cut doesn't swell up, I'm sorry to say it but that reaction almost definitely spells bone related issues. It obviously isn't a fracture, assuming our dumb f*ck medical staff did x-ray him, because they'd have noticed that.

Looks like Ugur will play left back this week, probably with Deivid and Kazim on the wings.

He'll recover!

He has to, we gotta reach the final of CL next season. I know he's old, but hey.. the way he runs around the field. He's a footballer, obviously in shape. He's not 'that' old to say he might not recover from an injury.

We're probably going to see something like this:

Kezman
Alex
Deivid-------------------Kazim
Aurelio--Maldonado
Ugur--Edu--Lugano--Gökhan
Serdar

This is a club that hasn't been paying their players for a while, so the players are striking by not attending organised training sessions and training amongst themselves in their own time instead. They also hold tactical discussions and basically pick the team on their own terms.

The club responded by suspending some players and everything is 'allak bullak'. Promise of money from an external source for this match, however, might be more motivating than ever ;)

Volkan is in the squad but Serdar isn't, strange.

Volkan Demirel, Lugano, Yasin, Kazım, Kezman, Aurelio, Ali Bilgin, Can Arat, Alex, Selçuk, Volkan Babacan, Semih, Uğur Boral, Kemal, Edu, İlhan, Gökhan Gönül, Deivid.

Maldonado injured himself in training so he isn't in the squad either.

Argh, these injuries. :frustrat:

I wonder if that means Selcuk comes back in, or if they try this and attack, attack, attack:

Volkan
Gokhan -- Lugano -- Edu -- Vederson
Aurelio
Kazim -- Deivid -- Alex -- Ugur
Semih/Kezman
