Juventus will not be able to count on Igor Tudor for at least another three weeks.
Club doctor Riccardo Agricola confirmed that the Croatian international has suffered a recurrence of the ankle inflammation that had kept him out for three months.
Giant defender Tudor had made his comeback in March against Inter, but limped off three weeks later with a thigh strain.
The former Hajduk Split star had caused controversy when he refused to play the first half of a crucial Champions’ League match at Bayer Leverkusen.
“It is my ankle and I don’t think I should rush my return,” he had explained at the time. “I’ve been out for three months and do not want to take any more risks so close to the World Cup.”
“Considering the residual pain in the right ankle,” explained Agricola, “we decided to prescribe further rehabilitative physiotherapy.”
It’s likely he will miss most – if not all – the remaining games of the season.
