Real Madrid president Florentino Perez chaired clear-the-air talks between technical director Jose Martinez Pirri and a disgruntled Guti after the midfielder discovered that Pirri had criticised him in a confidential document.

But the Madrid-born youngster could start looking for another club after Pirri’s explosive dossier on the Real squad was leaked to the press – and with both Milan clubs having made a bid for the player, Italy is looking his likeliest destination.

The report, in which Pirri revealed which players could be transferred, which were "untouchable", and what the faults of others were, caused a major stir around the Santiago Bernabeu.

Pirri wrote of Guti: "He has the technical ability to be a winner but he doesn't behave like a Real Madrid player. He's not focused on football and if there was a good offer for him the club should take it seriously."

Guti responded by saying: "I turn a deaf ear to this kind of criticism. It seems that in terms of football, Pirri is on my side but he's a long way from that on a personal level. I am very annoyed because I've been at Real since I was nine and I don't like people speaking of me in this way. Let us see where Pirri is this time next year."

Pirri, said to be devastated the report has been made public – in one of the Madrid papers under the headline "The Summer Bombshell" – explained: "It's a secret and confidential report that I handed in to my superiors in April."

Manager Vicente del Bosque said Pirri was "an innocent victim who was only doing his job."

Elsewhere in the report, Pirri revealed that former Valencia midfielder Gerard Lopez was their top summer target: "Gerard would be the ideal player to partner Fernando Redondo in the centre of midfield. The only problem is that he is prohibitively expensive."

Barcelona paid £13.4 million for Gerard, £2 million less than Real spent on Flavio Conceicao from Deportivo. Flavio did not appear on a list of 23 possible reinforcements in the Pirri report. Only three - Pedro Munitis, Santiago Solari and Claude Makelele - have joined Real.

Next season, Flavio will play alongside Albert Celades, whom Pirri described as "not good enough for Real Madrid." Redondo, a player he considered "untouchable", is now at Milan.

Guti may yet join him. Last month the 23-year-old international said: "Zoron [Vekic, his agent] told me there is movement in Italy and although Milan are an attractive club, I don't want to move from Madrid because I feel happy here and even more so as the boss has shown faith in me."

This latest spat could cause Guti to change his plans – but if he does, Perez cannot be blamed for trying to make Pirri and Guti kiss and make up.

CRUNCH TIME fellas, if this guy leaves we will have Perez on the ropes. Or maybe this time pirri, how the fuc*k could this report be leaked to the press? Is perez wanting to get rid of guti and that's why he leaked it?:madL I dunno, my last hope though, is the fact that guti is Db davorite and may just convince him to not give a hoot about this damn report. I am praying....

I don't see what's so great in these Guti news:confused: it's not like he's said anything new! He has said a number of times he wants to be at Madrid for life. So what? He can say all he wants, but if perez wants money he will go. We are fortunate that he's Del Bosques favorite, but what if he's fired??? We need a comment from the board of directors to feel better, because so far Guti is saying the same old thing:(

And this Macca stuff is crazy! He was supposed to be chosen:mad:

hehe, where's the Merengue from? Another muslim in this forum?:D

Anyway I think you're overreacting about Guti. Sure he can be great, but he can also suck real bad. He will not be a Zidane, that I'm pretty sure of, but he can certainly propel himself into the national team, if he for once starts being consistent!

Bangladesh!?:) How do you guys know each other? Well, well I hope he knows more about his religion than you do Aamir, because I found it rather insulting, that you didn't know who Halid ibn al Walid or Amr ibn al As were:happy::cool:

La illaha illa lLah, Muhamadun rasulu Llah to the Merengue:D

And theoretically Raul scored again Aamir:) Only some idiot didn't give it to him:D

I know what it means Anelka, but not being a Muslim, I dont' really care:), because it's all just crap:D Sorry:eek: I have learned about Christ and Muhammad and it's al;l the same thing, only presented for a different people in a slightly different manner. Now, believe if you like, but in the end, the so called faithful acted the same both in christianism and islam. They acted according to their insticts, the religion was just a passage to power:) Only religion I know so far of that has a incredible measning for people is buddhism and possibly hindiusm, although in the second example it has more to do with the peoples character, not the religion itself. If I insult you by this, I apologzie, because I know you're a faithful, but I just can't hold it back:D:eek:

And those two guys i mentioned aren't phrophets, they're brilliant generals!:)
Halid won the Syria campaign for Abu-Bakr in 633, while Amr took over Africa, especially Egipt in 642.

Hey come on guys, all I was trying to do is start a good ol' religious debate:) I see none of you Muslims know enough about your religion, or mine for that matter:D, in order to argue with me about it:D Too bad, but I find Merengue's comment quite funny, because as i see it, if you would study more closely Islam, perhaps read some western books on it, you'd see it's just an idea of a smart person living in the VII century in Arabia:) What Muhhamad did, was a necessity at the time for the Arabs, he was smart enough to lead them, that's all. Like all religions, it's an opium for the people, not any longer though...

Do I really use it that often?:eek: Anyway in polish it's a common word for the drug, I dunno if it's even correct in english, I just translate it:D hehe, I'm sure, that if I was anyone in a past life, it was Kamil Cavour:happy::cool:

hehe, well I dunno how good your knowledge on Islam is, I do know that Aamir's is pretty weak:) Anyway Christianism is nowadays indeed a religion, that you are associated with, but not a faithful. I am a Christian, but I don't believe in Christ anyway. The reasons are many, Western civilization has gotten much further in Europe, and there's no longer the need for a fake God, something still alive in Arabia and the East.

Leave it be Merengue:) What's the difference in believing a prayer 5 times a day will salvage you, and praying to a statue?:D None whatsoever, just a tradition. I am not an atheist, I believe in something, certainly not God:) I do though believe in life after death...

Why are we living this religion argument?:D i want some blood to flow:eek:cool:;) hahaha, OK, OK, since we're all so "tolerant", why are there different religions? I mean all of them are about the same thing anyway, if everyone would be as tolrant as they say they are, one universal religion would exist:D

I feel this is just a little meaning situation. Guti would've stayed in Real forever anyway:) I strongly disagree with you R&B on the italian theory - call me conservative, but I still have it strongly put in my mind spanish players NEVER move abroad. And in reality this is true, I realise the market window is opening more and more and more and all these old rules of the past are slowly being broken, NEVERTHELESS we cannot fail to see, that overall this is the trend in spanish football. Theoretically you may ask, what then happens to players like Guti, who play in Real Madrid and therefore have no bigger possibility of achievment in football(spanish!). Well, it's always been this way, players like Amavisca not long ago, gave their best to the club and at the age og 29, when their superior period of football ends, they get sold to smaller spanish sides. This is what will probably be happening to guys like Guti, Celades, Salgado, Karanka etc. - Spaniards!, who after reaching the peak of their career, will get sold to smaller spanish clubs. Of course, there exists the possibility that one or a couple will make the move abroad...but let's face it - there's not many examples to support this - Jose Mari, Ivan de la Peña, Farinos and Ferrer (recently) - again i realise things are starting to change, but IMO it won't change this dramatically. Guti and the players I mentioned are great players, but not of the world class, superstar type, and for me, these guys will be in Spain till the end of their careers:)

That's just a bit from me, on Guti and his supposed move to Italy:) Of course this all may be rubish, if the new transfer rules are imposed, but it's not like I could have forsawn that:D

Vamp, you could at least know the spelling since you're doing a tribute!:howler::tongue:

Jose Maria Guttierez

I think this tribute is very nice, perhaps not perfectly timed, but certainly one he's earned over the years.
Guti is a very versatile player, as we've learned over the years. Perhaps not a prodigal talent, like Raul or Guerrero, but a kid with great potential that can either be forfilled thanks to hard work, or you slip into mid-league mediocrity. Guti has never been liked by the socios much, because of his somewhat arrogant attitude of the pitch, but this in no way discredits his on the pitch performances and his sportsmanship. He's professional.
A key factor in his latest career is quite clearly the fact del Bosque simply adores him. Our coach Vicente knows the kid since his B team days and ever since he's his fav man.

I don't recall this fellas first steps in our club, because back then I had little clue what Real Madrid actually was:eek::embarass: Here's his player profile:

LEAGUE CAREER RECORD
Season Club Games Goals
1995/96 Real Madrid 9 1
1996/97 Real Madrid 14 0
1997/98 Real Madrid 17 1
1998/99 Real Madrid 28 1
----------- Real Madrid B 26 11
1999/00 Real Madrid 28 6
2000/01 Real Madrid 32 14
2001/02 Real Madrid 26 2

As a couple of you have already mentioned he started out as a DM, supposedly the next Redondo and all that... about 1999 his position slowly started shifting to the offense. For a brief while he was a classic attacking midfielder, the role most of us remember him best for. Why? Not only was he on superb form at the time, but add to that the glamour goals always bring with themselves... definitely a top moment in his career. He broke into the first team at that time, setting aside players like Seedorf! That was 1999, especially succesful was the 2nd half of that year (Seedorf would leave in December), which earned him the 1st of his 3 caps. After that came a slightly less spectacular period in 2000, accompanied by an injury I believe. He was never to feature in the national team after that:irritate:
Then came the summer of 2000, Valdano, Perez, Figo, Makelele, Flavio, Solari, Munitis... all these players mentioned were MIDFIELDERS, and this really meant trouble for Guti, who at the time was a quality player at Real, but still couldn't quite claim to be an indefinite starter, a player around whom the team is built.
Del Bosque wasn't about to let this interfier with his favorite boy's career, and found a rather spectacular way out of it - he moved Guti into a forward position.
Now wether this is his future or not, I am reulctant to comment, because it's been debated enough here. Most of us agree we need a top notch striker in Real, and Guti just isn't the clinical finisher we have in mind.
But he can score, and he can adapt very fast, make no mistake. 2000/01 was proof of this. Vamp did a great job on reminding me, for one, on how important his role was in our league campaign. I am guilty of forgetting how inspirational he was in our march for the league. 14 goals in 32 La Liga games is a pretty good statistic. Raul certainly overshadowed him with his pichichi title, but Raul is the target in the team, Guti is not. And one can argue this wasn't even his position:eek: Let's remember that.

What are Guti's main virtues? To me he has excellent technique, unfortunately he often uses this technique when he tries circus tricks. Often I find he's totally deconcentrated, making silly ball-handling mistakes. Nonetheless, I rate his technique very highly, which is quite visable in many of his superb circus like goals. Has good feel of the ball, but often can't find himself when squished between a couple of players. This is the primary reason why I always considered him to be a better midfielder, than forward - a midfielder has more room and time to get the ball, and create something. A forward has to react lightning fast just to hold back the aproaching defenders, not to mention find a way to either score or set someone up. But make no mistake, this field of his game has also greatly improven over the past 2 years, where he just had to adapt to the role of a forward.
What else can be said? He's pretty cool about what he does on the pitch. No hotheaded business, although I do recall a couple of incidents where he got more than a bit involved:D:devil: He's not superbly fast, he's not as intelligent as Raul, but he's a hardworking, proffesional guy, who knows what it takes to succeed.
Guti was IMO one of the best players in the world during that period of late 99. I remember this quite clearly, because I was really intent on bringing him into the national team, and was damn proud when he got the call. I remember he was just awesome:star: Wether or not he will ever regain this kind of recognition amongst some of us, remains to be seen... personally I would love to see him stay in Real, because he's just too good to be given away, BUT (and here comes the sadder part),
I am also pretty sure Guti will not achieve the full capacity of his potential with Real:depress: The current Real is not gonna allow him into the team as a starter on a regular basis, it won't allow him to truly present himself to the world.
I don't have any doubts Guti will be a regular in the team (sometimes starting, sometimes the bench etc), as long as del Bosque remains in the club, and I have no doubt he full deserves to be in our team. But I wonder how long he will be willing to sacrifice personal glory for the glory of Real Madrid?
That in my view is the essential part of the story here... a lot of us Merengues may not be realizing how dedicated a player Guti in fact is. I'm glad this topic was brought up, because it's reminded me of a true hero we have amongst our ranks, and a hero we often tend to forget.

I salute thy, Guti!:star::proud:
