Stankovic to Turin ?
Stankovic will not be 'parcelled' off to Juve
Friday 12th April 2002
Lazio midfield Dejan Stankovic has reacted with dismay to reports linking him with a move to Juventus. "Stankovic is not somebody you can send wherever you want by parcel post," said the Yugoslav's agent Vincenzo Morabito.
Lazio chief Sergio Cragnotti and Juve opposite number Luciano Moggi have met repeatedly in the last few weeks, with the Rome club linked to Giuliano Giannichedda and Edgar Davids while Alessandro Nesta, Hernan Crespo and Stankovic are interesting the Turin giants.
However, Stankovic's representative has voiced his concerns at the transfer talks and Davids continues to insist he is happy in Turin.
"Nobody called us," said Morabito. "If Juve make a bid we will think about it - but I'm not sure at all that we'll accept."
Lazio are keen to make room in midfield for the expected arrival of Olivier Dacourt from Leeds, who they want to pair with Davids to add bite to team.
But Davids declared: "I would like to stay here and nobody has spoken to me about my departure. Sergio Cragnotti hasn't called me and I know about this story only from the newspapers.
"Some players, after several years at a club, feel it would be better to change, but I don't feel that way."
