Massive signing for us in Alou Diarra.

At 31 he has signed a 3 year deal and the fee was not disclosed.

He has a wealth of experience and i was actually a fan of his performances at the Euros. He has also been the captain of both France and Bordeaux in the past.

Good to see we can still attract players like this.

In the grand scheme of things i guess the only negative is that now we have 3 out and out DM's which means that guys like O'Neill and Collison will be pushed to the wings, although they are not orthodox wingers. I guess its what to expect from a "defence first" Sam Allardyce team.

We have bid 10m for Matthew Jarvis.

He would bring some much needed width in the team and just the thought of him and Matt Taylor whipping in some crosses should worry anyone in the EPL.

Both their preferred position is on the left of midfield.

Taylor can play at LB though and has played there at times in his career.

Jarvis is right footed believe it or not so he can as easily play on the right.

We have agreed a fee of 11m for Matt Jarvis with Wolves.

A bit overpriced imo but will be a great asset to the side, especially considering the game we play.

Sam Baldock has also left for Bristol. He wasnt needed and neither is Piquionne either.

Its official.

With the 11m price tag he becomes the most expensive signing ever made by WHU. Previous one was 7.5m for Craig Bellamy in 2007 iirc.

He should get some minutes in Swansea which kicks off in about half an hour.

Most expensive officially was Savio Nsereko. Although not sure how much of the reported £9million we actually paid to Brescia.

I'm not saying he wont do good but it will mean even more long balls played aimlessly by us, especially as Big Sam is in charge :palm:

Carroll is a beast with long balls he wins them and wins them with well directed headers to team mates. Let's face it, you were never going to be playing tiki taka under Big Sam anyway.

Not under Big Sam, no.

When Maiga came on against Swansea however the team began to play on the ground and cut in from the wings etc.

With Carlton Cole its just a punt forward game and seeing as Carroll is an improved version of CC it will just encourage that even more...

Benayoun has been brought in on a year long loan to give some much needed creativity in the centre of the park.

Good deal

Having Carroll makes the Jarvis signing look much much better.

The best header and crosser in the league last year statistically iirc.

Glad to see Yossi returning "home" - will get alot more West Ham games on TV now
