here we go again!

the last three postings from the "old" thread!

Fiorentina are weighing up a bid for Atletico Madrid captain Maxi Rodriguez.

The Argentina winger has been a long-term target for Fiorentina sports chief Pantaleo Corvino and he plans to use cash raised from their Champions League qualification to go for the attacker.
The agent of Luis Perea has dismissed interest from Fiorentina in the Atletico Madrid defender.

Marcelo Bertnaza said: "In football anything can happen, but the player has won with Atletico access to the Champions League and has recently renewed his contract.

"So, while not wanting to exclude anything, I see it as unlikely that the player leaves Madrid."
Paris Saint Germain are in advanced talks with Atletico Madrid for midfielder Maniche.

Record says a deal is already close to being struck for the Portugal international, who spent the second-half of last season on-loan at Inter Milan.

Maniche could be useful for you next season IMO. You would still need a top class defensive midfielder anyway as Maniche isn't really defensive (nor top class), but he still could be helpful considering you will have a tough season with CL and all.

IMO maniche cannot be back in the team as the coach and the player do not trust each other.so IMO he will be sold and this time IMO we should not loan him.

he is a good player but his off field antics are not good for the team

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all have Atletico Madrid rattled over interest in their brightest young prospects.

Juan Cruz Sol, Chelsea's Spanish scout, Arsenal's Francis Cagigao and Liverpool scout Paco De Gracia have all been spotted at Atletico youth games and Spain U17 internationals this year.

Arsenal and Chelsea are maintaining their interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Ignacio Camacho.

Camacho burst onto the Spanish Liga scene last season and AS says Atletico have concerns over the growing interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Premiership giants have been following Camacho since he was promoted from Atletico's youth setup.

Sporting Lisbon are moving for Atletico Madrid midfielder Maniche.

Record says Sporting have approached Maniche's representatives about a return to Portugal for next season.

Sporting see Maniche as an ideal replacement for one of want-away pair Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho.

I don't get it. How did this guy develop the reputation of a good player? He doesn't defend, he can't make a good pass to save his life, and his shot is overrated. Please, send him as far away from El Calderon as possible!

He won't return to Atlético, especially since Aguirre will be leading the team for another season.

As for these pirates trying to steal our future prospects, they can go search for their own players. I hope the club will do everything to protect them as well as they're going to stay with Atlético.

Atlético de Madrid's youth team is being constantly monitored by the Premier League's biggest clubs meaning the Spanish club are having to remain very cautious.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have scouts watching all levels of their production line and los Colchoneros are working hard to ensure none of the youngster are tempted to England.

After the successful rise of Ignacio Camacho to the first team at Vicente Calderón, Atleti are keen to bring more hopefuls through to the highest level, according to AS.

Interest from the English powerhouses is nothing new and Camacho's lengthy professional contract is a sign that the club know they cannot take any risks.

One of the next to come up is highly-rated keeper David De Gea, who has already signed a professional deal with Atleti until 2011 to ward off any thoughts of him leaving.

The Spain Under-17 keeper is seen as Atlético's long-term first choice goalkeeper and is tipped to replace Iker Casillas in the national team in years to come.

With Chelsea scout Juan Cruz Sol, Arsenal's Francis Cagigao and Liverpool Paco De Gracia all employed to scour Spain for talent, Atlético are being cautious.

Four more names to watch out for in year to come are Borja González , Sergio Marcos, Pedro Mba and Perico, who the Atleti youth team coaches all tip to be promoted to the first team soon.

That's probably why the club is interested in signing Grégory Coupet to back up Leo Franco in the upcoming season.

Coupet In Talks With Atlético
Atlético de Madrid are locked in talks to sign Grégory Coupet from Olympique Lyonnais and the goalkeeper has been in the Spanish capital to look around the club.
Los Colchoneros have been scouring the market for an experienced custodian following the return of Christian Abbiati to AC Milan and appear to have found their man, according to Marca.

The French international flew to Madrid this week and met with Atlético directors, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín and Jesús García Pitarch to discuss personal terms.

Coupet had been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur after reportedly claiming that he would like to try the English Premier League before he retires.

But with no concrete offer, Atleti are trying to tempt him to spend two seasons in la Primera and have been able to promise him Champions League football.

Despite having a contract with Lyon until 2010, the 35-year-old shot stopper told the club that he wanted to go to try a new experience and they have agreed not to stand in his way.

After joining Lyon in 1997, the France number one has been a tremendous servant to the club having spent eleven years at Stade Gerland and seen the club rise to become one of Europe's elite.

Since 1997, Coupet has won Ligue 1 seven times, the Trophée Des Champions on five occasions and picked up the Coupe de la Ligue and the Coupe de France.

IMO this will be an awesome signing.he is among the top10 keepers in the world and will be a massive upgrade on our current keepers.the downside though is that this is a short term signing but he will be good for atleast 2 years

That's good enough for me, especially since we've got our own pool of goalkeeping talents coming up. He would provide some important experience, help out the younger keepers and still be able to compete with Leo Franco.

We shouldn't continue signing new goalkeepers when there's homegrown talent, especially kids like David de Gea

Falcón is a decent goalkeeper and worked nicely as third choice behind Franco and Abbiati this season. He played well in the few Copa del Rey-games he was given, but probably won't continue at Atléti for another season.

Why?

There's no compete about it, if Coupet signs, Leo had better get used to the bench.
I think everybody agrees Coupet is the better keeper, but Aguirre will start the season with Leo in goal. It'll take a month or so before Coupet gets his chance, and I'm sure he'll take it and run with it from there.

It all depends on how fast Coupet actually adapts to the team considering Atléti has signed almost a new back-line and in-officially a goalkeeper to back-up Leo.

They've got the pre-season to show who's better and should be starting if Coupet arrives. Also, they've both been very injury-prone over the last season so it remains to be seen if they can keep himself fit enough to play all season long.

Coupet's was a serious one, he doesn't have an injury prone history.

If you've got a mostly new backline, I don't think he needs to adapt to them any more than Franco does.

Franco knows the language, you can't count these aspects out, but Ufo and Heit are new as well. It remains to be seen if Coupet will be fit as he had huge problems last season, as did Leo ;)
