>>>>>Francesco Totti has launched a scathing attack on Fabio Capello and the Roma fans, warning he’ll leave the club unless they can challenge for the title.
“I am waiting for news from the club,” he told ‘Il Messaggero’ this morning. “Wages aren’t the important thing when it comes to my contract renewal. There have to be plans in place, as we cannot return to the days of a Roma side aiming for third or fourth position.”
Totti’s future has been the subject of controversy over the last couple of years, as Real Madrid, Inter and Milan are all willing to give him a real shot at trophies. The matter will come to a head over the summer, as his contract expires in 2006.
This week Coach Gigi Del Neri said Totti would remain in the Capital out of a lifestyle choice, but it seems he misjudged the mood of the city.
“The fans want me at Roma forever, but then they’re the ones who repeatedly insult me in the street,” said the Italian international. “I am only the captain when things are going well, otherwise I’m the ‘mercenary’ and ‘playboy millionaire’,”
Real Madrid seems to be the most likely destination should he choose to move on from his home town, but the door is open for another option.
“I have received offers from Italy and overseas. I would never join Juventus or Lazio, but in any case my preference would be for somewhere outside Serie A. If I ever did leave, it would not be a sudden transfer in the middle of the night,” he said with clear reference to Fabio Capello’s departure. “I would explain everything to the fans and leave Roma with my head held high.”
Capello’s decision to join rivals Juventus in a shock move this summer will probably never be forgiven by Totti, who launched another scathing attack on the Coach that took Roma to the Scudetto.
“Our summer tour around the world was Capello’s last gift before leaving,” he smirked. “It was a crazy decision, especially with so many of our players already caught up in the Olympics. I think Capello might have planned it on purpose to ruin our season.”The two men have already engaged in a bitter public battle this season and Totti’s latest comments look set to stir up further controversy.
“Capello even had the gall to take Philippe Mexes for a ride. The day before signing for Juve he assured the defender a project was in place for this team. He can’t have reached an agreement in 24 hours. I think he already knew he was leaving Roma long before then, as first he was in talks with Inter before Juve came in. That’s Fabio Capello for you.” >>>

For sure,Capello has to face the wrath of the ROMA fans.He betrayed the club and the way he went about it was underhand and deceiving.I cannot wait until Judas comes back to Rome with his 2 cohorts in toe. They deserve everything they get and realise you cannot just walk away after stabbing the club in the back and expect no reprisals. He should have at least looked us in the eyes and told us he was on the way to Junkietus. :finger:

I like Totti's opinions, but still I miss Capello. My signed shirt dramatically drops in personal value when you see who signed it:

Totti, Cassano, Tommasi, Lima, Panucci, Candela, Montella all fine...
Capello, Zebina and Emerson, the Juventus gang bang :yuck:

Anyway, after a period of hard school work I'm gonna start posting again. I can feel it coming.

Is it no surprise that maybe Roma fans are hating Capello because he went to the club that perhaps Roma hate the most.

Totti has to learn to keep things in house,There doesn't seem to be one thing he doesn't rhinge about. He tells the Public about everything,It's simply not right.

no he doesnt ...if he is asked a question he will tell you his answer...listen guys

anything that happens to Roma or Totti or anything else will not be a direct result of what he is saying in the press...it really has no bearing on things...its not a big deal if he thinks Capello left like a traitor than thats what he thinks.

Well in this case, it is not in house because Capello is not with Roma anymore. Also, if Capello sees fit to critisize Totti as being a bad role model for De Rossi, then Totti can say pretty much whatever he wants about Capello. And to be honest, Totti is on the money with comments IMO.

Got that right. The Stubborn One is not welcomed around these parts. We're only 16 points behind Juve, watch out Capello!! ;)

The Capello thing wasn't what i was talking about,It was more to do with the clubs finances etc you know what I mean. It's great to see a man speaking out honestly, but some comments could be a bad thing as well. ;)

I do not see how his honesty can cause so much controversy. He warned ROMA that he does not want to stay around if the club has no ambition or project about the future. Its his way of pressurising the club.He is the captain after all and his duty to lead the club forward. This is another way of him taking his responsibility seriously and sending a message to the owners, either start investing or sell the club.Otherwise, you will be left selling one of its assets.Crystal clear. ;)

I agree with you in this regard. Totti shouldn't be making "I'm leaving Roma if we aren't challenging for the Scudetto" remarks on Sunday mornings before a match, especially one in which he had the opportunity to break Pruzzo's record (which he gloriously did :D ). He is sounding like a broken record now, but I truly believe it is for good intensions as he wants Roma to be a winner for as long as he is there. Baldini thinks we are 1 or 2 players away from challenging for the title next season. Well we definitely need a true left winger (Cufre' is doing a very good job this season but he is no offensive threat), we will lose Dacourt so we need a very good defensive midfielder to replace him, and another striker is needed because right now if one of the big 3 get hurt, the tridente isn't effective.

That being said, if Mido or Corvia develop into something...we may have our striker. If Chivu returns next season healthy and back to his 2004 form....we have our defender.

Alot of ifs, but the Roma saga continues....

I can see where he's coming from,But do you honestly think it's a good thing to constantly come out with these types of comments?I certainly don't we've got the picture by now.
