Tottenham said it accepted Aston Villa's offer for French winger David Ginola. The transfer fee details weren't exactly clear but it's speculated it would be 3 million pounds ($4.55 million).

``Aston Villa made an offer for David Ginola,'' said Tottenham's Director of Football David Pleat in an official statement. ``After some discussion the club have agreed to allow David Ginola to speak to Villa.''

The 33-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain player joined Tottenham from Newcastle for 2 million pounds in July 1997. He played 127 matches for the north London team scoring 22 goals, and was voted the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' Player of the Year in 1999.

Ginola was dropped from Tottenham's side for its November UEFA Cup tie with Kaiserslautern and against Manchester United in May after the player said he ``deserved to have played in a really top team.''
