A German magazine published a listing of the which footballers were the top ten earners in the Bundesliga. The list does not detail
the basic wage of the players but includes approximate bonuses, etc. Also note that the wages are before tax (-50%).

I think it's absolutely incredible to see VfB Stuttgart's Krassimir Balakov still among the top 10 earners in Germany! He is by far over his prime! Some years ago, he was one of the best Bundesliga players (Balakov, Elber and Bobic formed the "Magisches Dreieck") but in recent years, his performances for Stuttgart were just subpar! At the moment he is just an average Bundesliga playmaker! And: in Kristian Lisztes, Stuttgart has a promising young playmaker, who showed better performances than Balakov last year, and earns almost nothing! In my opinion, it's time for Stuttgart to get rid of Balakov!

I really thought Giovanni Elber would have been the highest earner in the Bundesliga :)
He plays for the richest club and is by far the biggest superstar to the public :D
