Cristiano Ronaldo said: "Pelé is the greatest player in football history, and there will only be one Pelé".Jose Mourinho commented; "I think he is football. You have the real special one - Mr Pelé." Many players don't have vids and some vids might not work because I mostly picked vids from HeilJR who has some problems regarding copyright , but I'll adress the problem soon and all modern players will have videos in their description. I also mention that I mostly took the playing style descriptions from Wiki and Pes Stats.

Btw can someone edit the title to "players"
Overall a pretty nice list, you've put a lot of effort in this

Probably the only place you went full retard is with your countryman Hagi who's at least 50-60 places too high. Dearman's Offensive Midfielders list sees him behind Netzer, Overath and Francescoli (who in your list are between 100-125) and this is the range Hagi should belong to as well, not on 51st.

I'm surprised to see Finney behind so many other British players especially Dean, Dalglish, Keegan. He is usually rated clearly ahead of those names in UK football history.

Messi at 9th and 3 places behind CR7 is absurd of course but was expected from you :D

Thank you!

I really don't like Hagi more than any neutral player. I actualy have negative bias torwards him , because he was a Steaua player and I belive Balaci and Dobrin were more talented but din't had his chance. Anyway , you may be right. I'll wait for other opinions.

I'm surprised to see Finney behind so many other British players especially Dean, Dalglish, Keegan. He is usually rated clearly ahead of those names in UK football history.
Finney is were he is because of the stories about his talent. He played for a small team and has no achievements and no records. At the moment I find it hard to rank him higher. But I may change my mind. This is top isn't definitive.

Messi is younger. When they will both retire , Messi has a chance to surpass Ronaldo.

He has a pretty amazing goalscoring record for somebody who mainly operated as a winger, especially if compared to Matthews. In fact he's still the highest scoring non-forward for England with his 30 goals, Lampard is a goal behind.

Messi is younger. When they will both retire , Messi has a chance to surpass Ronaldo.
weird logic :D

he's younger and yet has achieved more so it's CR who has to worry about surpassing Messi

Don't turn this into a CR vs Messi thread AC

"Often ranked as the best player in the world and rated by some in the sport as the greatest of all time"-This is what is writen on both of their wiki. And it's as it should. I have no problem if someone considers Messi above CR.
Raul at 27th is an interesting choice...personally I find it quite okay, maybe slightly high. He's a very underrated player nowadays and not many would consider him all-time top 50. I remember Dearman didn't even include him in his top 100.
I'm also bit surprised that Nesta is not included at all while his contemporary Roberto Carlos (who I'd dare to say was rated lower than him during their active careers) is 61st.

And Baresi 43rd, Facchetti 48th, Nesta not in top 125 at all...something seems wrong there.
these lists should not include even ONE defender

 Very nice list ...Pele10

Even I had not yet went thru all 100's but quickly top25
Cristiano Ronaldo said: "Pelé is the greatest player in football history, and there will only be one Pelé"
As if the opinion of someone who never watched him playing counts that much :)

Andy, RC was rated lower than Nesta? I doubt it. RC was a hell of a full-back.
of course Nesta was rated higher than him for most of the 00s...RC was a great player but had many haters, he wasn't that solid of a defender with his gung ho style and could succeed only in a very attacking game plan such as in RM or Brazil.
Carlos was of course not compared with CB's like Nesta but left backs like Zambrotta and Cole...not necessarily the winner of those comparisons either: http://www.xtratime.org/forum/showthread.php?t=142725&page=2

he was of course the "cool" player who was hyped in ad campaigns etc but many knowledgeable fans saw past the facade and pointed out his defensive shortcomings...personally he seemed more like a fake winger for me, great attacking player.
Yeah he wasn't a great defender. But he was a bullet in attack and possesed a great shot. Few full-backs influenced the game of his team so much as RC.

Nesta was a good defender, but he was very protected by the defensive Italian systems too.

It's a matter of opinions I guess.

Edit: Comparing Ashley Cole to Roberto Carlos is a bit :drunk:
young Cole was better for most systems, could actually defend y'know...
Yeah he wasn't a great defender. But he was a bullet in attack and possesed a great shot. Few full-backs influenced the game of his team so much as RC.

Agree with you.
R Carlos was among the very rare legends with special left foot. He could be betetr than any left wingers now aday ...LOL

Nesta was a great defender but that's it ... he was just a wall.
Carlos (or Thuram Cafu Zanetti Maldini, Fachetti ..to N Santos Carlos Alberto Breitner Junior ..) were more than just a solid great defender. they could WIN game for the team in their best form

A Cole? a very good FB but also very hyped by English media ...
Even Marcelo now is already better than Cole (let along Carlos)
