Well for starters..I have made several tourist friends here in Montreal we keep in touch throughout the year and they all are counting down days to come back to Montreal for its night life. A lot of Americans come here as well and are always in awe of our clubs and bars...

About Lindros, I agree he is all but done playing hockey. He really did get nailed by Stevens in the playoffs, that's was hard to watch for me, because I always respected him. And Marcoa tell me why you think he's such a goon? He scores over 100 points every season he was healthy.

the guy has no hands and can't skate for beans! I don't know..Eclipse maybe it is bnecause I live in Quebec and the players here are taught more finesse skills than goon skills ala Lindros. I mean c'mon Eclipse..the dufus talks about the need for the game to crack down on cheap shots because of what happened to his brother and there he goes handing out cheap shots like a madman! Serves him right if you ask me!

Come on Marcoa, you can't say he isn't skilled. Like EclipsE said, he does get a lot of points. He's a big guy so he plays physical as well, but it doesn't really make him a goon.

You may not like the guy, but at least give him some credit.

I don't think the typical canadian thinks TO is the capital of hockey here. To me it's Montreal. They have the most storied history, and have had more of the "greats" play there.

But I agree Cherry is a big racist. It's funny how even though he is a racist, CBC of all stations will keep him on. Even they want ratings, and Cherry does bring in ratings, despite his questionable views on foreigners.


Cherry must have taken some pretty bad beatings in his time.

Well the best night life in the whole Canada is in Montreal i can tell you for sure!
The best places to go, the hottest clubs, the hottest Gathinas (not as hot as in Brasil but still extremely hot) very nice people,...everything to make a trip to Montreal unique...
Speaking of hockey, i really don't give a damn, i just know that there's a big team in TO called Leafs...
So what's your predictions for the coming season in the NHL people?Ze what is your prediction about the NHL???
Ze, can you tell us about the interest of Brasilians in Hockey? That would be interesting...Who's the best brasilian hockey player Ze?
Speaking of hockey i once read that the richest team of the NHL is the Leafs but their owner is a phucking greedy man like no one else...maybe Cragnotti and Moratti should come here and organise some workshops on how to spend big in sports...
With the money the leafs have, they should get Kariya, Jagr and co...

Cherry is biased to ENGLISH-canadian kids...french-canadian players are ignored by him. Puuuuulease...Lindros is total garbage...he is a player who racks up garbage goals off of rebounds, can't skate with the puck for my than 3 strides without losing it, he can't even back skate! LOL! The worst was when they put this goon as the Captain of the Olympic team in Nagano...what a farce!

I am sure you are aware of Dainus Zubrus, before the stinking habs got him from the Philadelphia Goons..I mean Flyers...there was talk of him playing D the following season for the goons...**** I mean Flyers...because he can back skate! HA HA! An entire team and only 2 players (Desjardins and Zubrus) can skate...

In case you don't get it...I totally HATE Lindros-style players....at least Shanahan can skate!

Marcoa, i read it last winter in the Toronto Star that the Leafs are the ricchest team of the NHL...maybe since then Anaheim has caught up with them...

Has anyone heard the story last summer that Hugo or Pablo Maradona (the brothers of Diego) had moved to Canada and more precisely to Toronto and they wanted to open a "soccer-school in here". Does anyone know about it?
Also, in April i saw on TLN that Daniele Massaro, the Milan and Italy striker of the 90's has now settled to Toronto and will also be like a scout for Milan in Canada...
Can anyone add more on that one?

Well since our country is so massively populated with immigrants, I wouldn't mind seeing Canada turn into the new France. But the only obstacle our soccer has to overcome is overtaking hockey as the #1 sport, and that's nearly impossible. Actually, I think that soccer is like the fifth choice for kids growing up in Canada these days behind, hockey, basketball, baseball, and football.

Just think of how many talanted kids that come from countries such as England, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Romania and even countries like Iran that could grow up to become good world class soccer players.

Well we don't have to take hockey's place!All we have to do is make it accessible to all and make football more popular by first having a strong local league, in a way to make it more "attractive for the Canadian born and raised population; help those that come from Football-crazy coutries by giving them the opportunity to practice it from the early ages by organizing more and more competittions and with a solid and complete training sessions. This obviously will necessite loads of funds from the governments (federal and provincial but also municipals) in order to really help the most beautiful sport get the attention it needs in that great country called Canada.

Maybe one day we will be the new France with all these immigrants on the team perfectly representing the nation...

That's one problem we have here. When we get a good talent, what's to say we won't lose em to a different country. If you look at the immigrants we have, I'm sure most of them would play for their birth country if they could, I know I would.

Then you have the children of immigrants who are sort of in the same boat. A Croatian kid born in Canada is automatically a Croatian citizen because of his parents. The HNS(Croatian football fed) has 2 scouts here in southern Ontario. Any Croatian kid who is has potential, will be convinced not to play for Canada, to try and make the Cro team. I know, because I know the scouts, and I know exactly what they'll do.

I'm sure this is the case with other ethnic groups here, so we can lose players.
