Not a joke. In the 80's it would have been a very valid point, in the 90's a serious topic for discussion, at the turn of the century the quality was improving radically, and now the artificial pitches give a lot better playing conditions than some of grass pitches in the Norwegian league, and arguably more fair conditions than most grass pitches anyhwere. I believe all top league clubs in Norway have an alternative artificial pitch to train on now, and a handfull of teams use it on their main stadiums. It would also be clear by watching matches from the Norwegian league, that there is no pattern where teams that play their matches on grass, and those that play on artificial grass, outperform their opposition on their preferred choice. In fact, last season Aalesunds FK played as well away from home, as they did at Color Line Stadion. Brann does have two losses in a row at Color Line Stadion now, but their third last league match at Color Line Stadion (on a slightly older version of the astro turf), saw Brann outplay Aalesund like they've never done before or since. Despite this, there's always a few that point out the pitch whenever their team lose. Irritating, because (in their eyes) it robs AaFK of any chance of creating a superb performance at home, and taking the glory for it.
