First match of the season. Reigning Champions, shalala! I expect a win and nothing less. FFK one of two sides that took points home from Bergen last year. Still, we should beat them.

2007 results
Home: 2-2
Away: 4-0

Demba-Nyren has brought with him a ban from Denmark and Tijan Jaiteh and Erik Huseklepp are injured. Other from that I think we're all at go.

Yay, first match of the season, should be a blast. I expect a win as well.

Isn't El-Fakiri injured as well? I haven't been able to keep up with all the latest developments unfortunately :p

Probable starting lineup :
Opdal
Dahl - Ørn1 - Ørn2 - Hanstveit
Solli - Gylfi - Bakke - PVM
Winters - Helstad

Bench : Udjus, Karadas, Guntveit, Ludde. Thwaite

I wonder when we will see Karadas from kick-off at CB. Now since Demba is ruled out and Ludvigsen isn't enjoying much of Mjelde's support, he will probably be coming on as a striker. Don't mind it as long as he's scoring, however he needs to be blooded back there sooner rather than later.

Well, Bjarnason is probably better for now, but if Karadas gets some games as a sub and cupgames and such, hopefully he'll be ready after the summer break, in time for the CL.

Hopefully Djemba ,Helstad , Winters and Ludde are the main striker choices. I guess Ludvigsen is mainly backup on the right wing though untill Huseklepp returns.

Brann - Fredrikstad 4 - 2 (1 - 1)

FFK was stronger than expected, had pretty good attacks and much of the play in the first half. Brann dominated a bit more in the second half, but Fredrikstad had several really good attacks and could easily have taken the lead. Tarik Elyounoussi was a constant threat that the Brann defense struggled with. The midfield fell off too deep every time Brann scored, and invited FFk back into the game.

Goals:
Thorstein Helstad (Brann) 18'
Tarik Elyounoussi (Fredrikstad) 26'
Azar Karadas (Brann) 63'
Gardar Johannsson (Fredrikstad) 72'
Thorstein Helstad (Brann) 84'
Thorstein Helstad (Brann) 89'

Yellow Cards:
Ardian Gashi (Fredrikstad) 43'
Azar Karadas (Brann) 69'
Kristjan Örn Sigurdsson (Brann) 78'
Jan Gunnar Solli (Brann) 90'

Player Ratings :
Håkon Opdal 5 Couldn't do much about the goals, but seemed a bit sluggish compared to last year. Some quite bad kickoffs.
Bjørn Dahl 6 One of the better people in defense, but trailed a bit behind the others when trying to trap opponents in offside. Had pretty good control on Barson and had several good raids down the right wing.
Olafur Örn Bjarnason 4 Need to shape up to keep Karadas on the bench.
Kristjan Örn Sigurdsson 6 Love his fighting spirit, and his pace saved us several times. Had trouble marking the FFK attackers, but won pretty much every duel.
Erlend Hanstveit 5 Decent game, no big mistakes in defense and came forward to help out PVM several times. Also had a great shot on goal.
Jan Gunnar Solli 6 Maybe our best player in the first half, not so good in the second. Blocked off Wallace coming forward almost completly, and had some great raids. The shots and passes aren't quite there yet.
Eirik Bakke 5 Solid performance and great fighting spirit. Lost a bit too many duels, but never wanted to stop playing, despite having his head bandaged up and a large visible gash in the shin. Gotta love him.
Hassan El Fakiri 2 Shouldn't have played this soon after his injury. Only had two practices with the team before starting. Gave the ball away too soon, kept passing to marked players and fell off too deep. Improved a bit in the second half, especially right before being taken off the field.
Petter Vaagan Moen 6 A constant threat and had several good corners. Had several hard fights with Ophaug, but gave as good as he received. Great passes to Helstad, seems they'll be good together once they sort out the timing.
Robbie Winters 3 A bit disappointing. Was mobile, but didn't accomplish much. Managed to drag some defenders away from Helstad, but not in the right moments. Will lose his spot next game when the Demba is back from suspension.
Thorstein Helstad 8 Proves why he's the best striker in the league. 3 goals despite missing on his biggest chance. The first was a brilliant solo job, the second a corner and the third showed great vision and timing to avoid the offside trap. Amazing player.

Subs
Azar Karadas (For Winters 58') 6 A huge improvement on Winters. Won lots of duels with the defenders, scored a goal and had an assist on Helstad's last goal. A shame he wants to play CB.
Gylfi Einarsson (For Bakke 70') 5 Did alright, could have scored and filled Bakke's position well. Seems more dangerous going forward than Bakke. Very uplifting performance.
Cato Guntveit (For El Fakir) 87') Didn't play enough to get a good impression of him. Played on the average, but did a good job talking to the teammates, organizing them better defensively to keep FFK locked down towards the end. I'm happy with him.

Off to a good start then. :)

Thanks for the review, Jinxter.
The way it should be :D

Lacked some precision in our attacks, but it'll improve every round. And the field was very heavy cause of rain. Hopefully the midfield will get better at adjusting their distance to the defense as well.

Hopefully Helstad's great start will make Demba-Nyrèn want to show what he's made of for the next game. Helstad isn't too fond of artificial turf like AaFK got.
