lahm is a big loss and same for Hleb if he leaves. Kuranyi i think is very overrated, i wouldn't mind us selling him as the price would be way over what it should be, so we gain. Same for Meira, and Szabics i am happy is leaving because now he can get to play more often and i also hated being completely biased whenver giving views on which strikers should start. :D

Soldo is still good, he can make one more year.

And we have already bought Hitzlsperger and Bierofka and surely more players are on the way.

I think all we really need is a new coach.
i agree- kuranyi is way overrated :)
but aren`t there rumors about an agreement in his contract, that he can leave if the vfb stuttgart would fail to qualify for the cl? and in this case you won`t get a good price for him. i am pretty sure. and you have to buy another striker for a reasonable price.
bierofka can`t replace him, he isn`t a striker.
or szabics will have to stay and work with sammer for another season :D

and about soldo: sure he can play for another season. but right now you need him badly and you don`t have a equivalent substitute for him, if he can`t play. we allready saw how successfull the vfb did play last year when soldo missed a few games. :lala:

so it will be tough for you- and we even didn`t talk about sammer :D

United seal Van der Sar deal

Fulham's Edwin van der Sar is all set to complete a move to Manchester United, skysports.com can confirm.

Speaking exclusively to skysports.com, van der Sar's agent Rob Jansen confirmed the transfer was almost done.

"The deal is done in principal," Jansen told skysports.com.

"It will be finalised in a week.

"Edwin is very happy, it is an honour for him to play for a club like United."

Van der Sar is set to sign a two-year deal at Old Trafford, once he has returned from international duty with Holland.

The 34-year-old won his 100th cap for the Oranje on Saturday as he helped his country to a 2-0 win over Romania.

Van der Sar will be in Finland on Wednesday before returning to England when he will complete the formalities of the deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson has moved quickly to land van der Sar, after Roy Carroll left the club last week.

The move represents the end of a long chase for Ferguson who first moved for van der Sar in 1999, but he was pipped to him by Juventus.

Ferguson has opted for van der Sar, ahead of the likes of Antti Niemi, Shay Given, Paul Robinson and Andreas Isaksson.

Tim Howard, who signed a new deal recently, will be number two to van der Sar next term - although Ferguson may yet add a third senior goalkeeper to his ranks over the summer.

 van der sar

why not a young good keeper ?? why a keeper thats good for one year ??
Just another Sir Fergie blunder..although van der Sar is good this is not for the long term. What Fergie should do is get Diego Forlan back..didn't he score more goals this year in Spain than the entire ManU team did..yes, he did. Fergie is like Lothar...5 new players every game and as Forlan said "he never gives a player a chance".

Forlan should stay with Villareal :( that team fits him more than Man utd
I agree that Forlan should stay in Spain.

Hah! I got something right for a change, eh Bentex? I said all along that SAF was going to back to Plan A with Timmy. Prepare him to be the long term number one.

So Bentex Ur, do you think that Van Der Sar is going to be the saviour of ManU? Tough job he has..he gives up one goal and they will probably lose. One mistake..OK it was the defense fault..another one that he should have had and he's on the bench! Tough place to play I'd say!

pista bácsi,
please stop this now :)

do you really feel Howard was benched because of one mistake?
Howard had a dreadful time so far at Man Utd where he made several mistakes. Not only Fergie thought he was not up to the job but every (non american) Man Utd fan too.

also you forget Barthez was number 1 for 3 years with all the mistakes he made.

now on to Van Der Sar!

He is a very experienced keeper, played on the very highest level for several years. His only low point was at Juventus.... but in saying that if he was at a Fulham or say boro he would have been in good form :)

I like Van der sar, he is certainly a vast improvement on Howard and Carrol. The only question is how long he will last.
On Mutv in the call in shows everyone agrees that the 2 years of service he will give us is more than enough time for Fergie to go out and find a replacement.
Dont forget, Fergie told Peter Kenyon to go and get Cech and he took that info with him to Chelsea :( Robben aswell. :scream:

Listen, if Howard does not get his chance in two years, you can rip on me and say I was full of shite all along. But, I believe he will be the number one. He has made mistakes, but the Kid will bounce back and get on track. Look at Friedel. He was considered a failure at Liverpool, but a success at Blackburn. SAF must see something in Tim to have let Carroll go.

The bigger problem at Man U is their goal production. If they do not produce the goals against the lower level clubs, they are not going to win anything. I do not care who they have in goal. The tragedy of last year was Scholes miss against AC Milan at home. He had the whole left side of goal open and he shot it wide. Had he made it, the game would have been totally different.

For the record, I think they did a good job in getting VDS. He is what they need and will do the job for Man Utd. He is the experienced keeper that can keep his cool under pressure.

Did you see the Van Nistelrooy goal against Finland? Looked like the RVN of old-he created the goal. On the flip side, Van Persie looked extremely dangerous after he came on to replace him.

he didnt let Carrol go, he had a contract offer on the table for about 8 months. Howard was offered a new contract once Carrol failed to sign it.

Only after Howard signed Carrol said he wanted to stay and then the contract offer was withdrawn.

Whatever...:groan: You are not going to give me one inch on the subject. So, let's just shelf the topic. In two years time if he is not starting and doing great things, you can say, "latod, te huyle?"

In the meantime, do the Michael Owen rumors have any legs at Man U, or is it all speculation at this time?

OK.. I can dig that. But come next mid-term we shall see where ManU stands even with the Dutchman in goal.

Thank the Jo Isten that Fergie is not the Magyar NT coach cause Gabor would be not be starting with all the mistakes he's made lately!

United keeper furious with arrival of Van der Sar

Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard has thrown down the gauntlet to new teammate Edwin van der Sar.
The USA international is insisting: "I won't be No.2 to anybody."
The News of the World says Howard was hoping to be Sir Alex Ferguson's first-choice goalkeeper after Roy Carroll was shown the door. But Fergie's 3 million euro swoop for former Fulham stopper Van der Sar has left Howard fuming.
"I didn't sign a new contract here to be the No.2," he said. "Had they said 'You're not our guy for next season, but you're a decent back-up goalkeeper,' I never would have put pen to paper. I feel I have improved and think I deserve to be given a chance."
