Chris Sutton's protracted transfer situation seems set to be resolved with a move to Celtic after a medical in the next day or so. Chelsea had reached agreement with Celtic over an initial £6 million fee rising in stages to a possible £10 million depending on the player and clubs performance. The decision lay with Sutton and he now seems set to confirm he has decided to join Martin O'Neill at the Glasgow club.
If the deal goes through as expected it will end an unhappy one season spell at Chelsea which never really worked out for player or club. With the signing of 25 million pounds worth of attacking options for next season Sutton's future at the club seemed to have been set and he will hope Celtic suits him better.
Martin O'Neill said "Chris is coming up on Monday for his medical, we will have the results of that by the same evening and I would expect him to fly out and join us on Tuesday."
