Watford VS Reading today.

Reading have a shot go 3-4 yards wide of the net, and the linesman tells the pitch referee it was a goal, and the referee awards Reading the goal.

Not at half time, not even at full time did the Referee take back the massively incorrect decision.

Watford managed to score 2 goals and Reading 1 legit goal, match ended 2-2.

There was an interview with the Assistant Referee Manager, who was simply politicizing the issue, trying to sweep it under the rug.

How is this decision going to stand? How did the referee not take the goal back at half time?

How easy is this going to make to pay referees off if they get away with something like this? Oh, your team is down a goal? Just pay the referee off, and any shot you make is an instant goal!

WTF

I believe they need to have a sensor like in the NHL. But replay only for goals, not for offside or red cards or anything that can be argued

Umm...I don't think they can do that. If the goal has been counted and the play has resumed from the center of the pitch there's nothing anyone can do anymore.

Human mistakes by the referees are a part of the game, have been that for over 100 years. They have to make their decisions based on a limited, momentary information and inevitably it will result in absurd ocurrances from time to time. In the big perspective these mistakes even themselves out, though. And these mistakes will become a part of the football folklore. This is why FIFA is against high-tech help in refereeing - it would make the game less dramatic if the decisions are right all the time.

That doesn't make sense, how could he NOT take it back? Do you think Reading would argue against it? They look at the footage, and they know it has to be taken off.

Some retarded logic in here... So football's a game were you can score a goal without putting the ball in the net ? those who say these mistakes are part of the "beautiful game" should be thrown into the sea.

I guess because they look at it "holistically" so after the decision has been made and play resumes you can't go "back in time" to change something, because then you're "changing history".

That's Karma. About 2 years back Watford was awarded a goal just for hitting the post against Chelsea.

The rules don't allow it.

r more probably because it's easier to be corrupt that way and order refs to what FIFA wants.

For those saying he couldn't take it back because of rules, where's the rule where you can't score a goal if the ball is never in the net?
The ref obviously decided that the ball went in and awarded the goal because of that. If the ball didn't go in, it's the ref's mistake - no one is saying you can score goals without the ball going in. So the ref actually wasn't breaking any rules there.

Dumbass.

Listen "dumbass", if the ref allows a non goal to be a goal, that breaks the rules of the game. The first rule of a goal to be counted is for it to make it's way over the line into the net. It did not do that, therefore the rule has been broken, by the referee awarding it.

And yes, if this stands, then you can score goals without the ball going in, all you need is a retarded/biased/paid off referee and you're good to go, you can do anything.

Hell, maybe next a referee will award a penalty for a foul in the middle of the pitch, and that too will stand.

That isn't a goal, and that still doesn't explain why Reading would get something for nothing.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

It doesn't work that way.
I just find it hilarious that you're appealing to the cosmos for karmic redistribution following a decision that went against you 2 years go.
