Atletico's General Manager, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, has assured that there are 5 "untouchable" players that won't be sold in any case: Fernando Torres, Antonio López, Leo Franco, Luis Perea and Pablo Ibáñez. Atlético wants to go back to the elite with this base and adding 3 or 4 important signings and some players of the B team. Then Braulio has just renewed for Atlético, Gabi will come back in June after being loaned to Getafe and Molinero automatically renewed after playing 10 official matches in Primera.

IMO, keeping Torres, Perea & Pablo is essential for Atlético. They need 3-4 class signings and then maybe Atleti will be back to the top if they also keep their best players... but leaving aside the sale of the Calderón, they don't have enough money to do it. And players like Gabi and Molinero aren't good enough for a competitive squad, so it's the same of always: everything depends on the sale of the stadium.

Having good defensive players is a start to success. For signing new players, a strong forward is more needed. Torres needs a partner upfront which you have missed ever since Nikoladis or the new forward as a good replacement for Torres. Someone like Vieri is perfect for now. Sometimes your attack is not hard to score. I wonder what effect will this statement have on the rest.

As much as it would be great to get Vieri back
he is the one of the biggest earners in football wages so i doubt we could have the resources to bring him back, i think someone like Saviola, Vennegoor Of Hesselink or David Villa would be good signings
