One of the worst scandals in football I can remember. It's called "the trains of goals" because according to the investigations the people who are involved in it referred to the players by calling them "trains". According to the investigations Catania bought 5 games, for 4 wins and one draw, which prevented Catania from being relegated, with the involvement of a betting agency.

Oh Pulvirenti, he had one of the best interviews during that controversial Catania Juve game.

Seriously WTF.. do people in Italy do anything other than betting and fixing games?!!!

"Four wins in a row, we are flying. If we had not taken care of it we'd be relegated by now!"
-----------------------------------
Delli Carri: "one train it as 15"
Pulvirenti: "and the other one?"
DC: "there are two more but..."
P: "keep in touch"
-------------------------------
Delli Carri: "the train at 23? at 11?"
Di Luzio: "eh, that was the one which was certain"
DC: "now just the one at 3 is? the one at 4? or the one at 33?"
DL: "the direttissimo!"
DC: "the one at 33 past 3?"
DL: "yeah!"
-------------------------------------------------------------
Arbotti: "I leave at 13"
Di Luzio: "at 13?"
A: "at 13, I made this choice"
DL: "the one at 15?"
A: "no, I had to choose one"

More material. Not just trains... girls! Two players are identified with hot girls called Jessica and Lina. The people talking are clearly having fun when talking about them and use terms which are not exactly used by gentlemen. Gazzetta identifies Jessica with the Dutch player of Ternana Janse and Lina with the teamate Fazio. I will post a translation later.

TERNI Jessica and Lina. These code names that the leadership from Catania Calcio gave two players Ternana to organize the alleged combine, for which the public prosecutor at the Court of Catania has established the obligation of the various measures.

In tapping it comes to festivals, evenings and girls. Where a party as match-fixing, the girls players "approached" and courtship is the compensation. In particular, leaders speak of Catania un'olandese blonde, Jessica. And then there's Lina, but is a bit 'more difficult to conquer. Lina is "so much stuff," is absolutely brought to the party, but despite the "courtship" well prepared, Lina to those evenings we want to go.

But for the two players of Fere, the leaders of Catania also use the usual code common to all the other games (and which gives its name to the operation "Trains goals"): the trains were the players and schedules Train was the number of the corresponding player's shirt.

And then, in the dialogues and phone regarding the match Catania-Ternana of 24 April 2015, check the "train of 2:13." This would it Daniele Pasquale Fazio (aka Lina), wearing jersey No.. 13 of Ternana, and Jens Janse (aka Jessica), wearing jersey No.. 2 of Ternana. Only that, always from wiretaps, it shows that Pasquale Fazio would refuse the combine (it should be noted that Fazio is not investigated, ed). President Santos would not have received signs from Captain rossoverde sull'avvenuto contact with emissaries of the club Etna to promote Sicilian team. It must be said, however, that this does not prove nor any attempt priming the same Fazio, whose name may have also been made for pure bragging.

By telephone dialogues emerges then another incredible detail: it seems that there have been complaints of leadership Etna because in the damn game on April 24 the mistake made by Jessica in the second goal of Catania was too obvious ...

The latest on Catania (it never ends). Source gazzetta dello sport

I have already mentioned the game with Avellino is also considered fishy, even if it doesn't belong to the list of 5 games. Anyway, after those games and the 4 wins in a row, Catania visited Bologna on April 27 but no fixing was tried and Catania lost 2-0. Catania were out of the relegation zone but had no chances to reach the playoffs zone either so Delli Carri, the "incompetent bat", the sporting director "who is just good for those things" according to Pulvirenti, called Arbotti and told him that Pulvirenti in the following games wanted to "have fun", that means: wanted to make money with the remaining games. The proposal was a 2-2 draw (19X) for the game with Brescia, but too many players were needed and Arbotti proposed a win by a 2-goal margin for Catania instead. Pulvirenti agreed and Arbotti found two "trains", one which was certain and one which was uncertain. In the end Pulvirenti was not confident and gave up.

Catania face demotion
By Football Italia staff

Reports suggest Catania will be demoted to the Lega Pro, after President Antonino Pulvirenti admitted match-fixing.

It was reported earlier today that the Elefanti patron had admitted to buying five matches in the ‘Goal Trains’ scandal, ironically to help his club avoid relegation.

ITA Sport Press reports that FIGC Prosecutor Stefano Palazzi will ban Pulvirenti from any involvement for life, with the club being demoted.

Catania are also likely to face a severe points penalty for next season, with Pulvirenti’s 11 years at the helm ending in disgrace.

---

They were in Serie A in 13-14 and yet the following season risked relegation from Serie B to C? what led to this big drop? And to think that Catania spent 8 seasons in a row in Serie A... 8 seasons in a row in Serie A and yet 1 relegation and everything collapses like this?

For instance you have Bologna, they were in Serie A in 13-14 (like Catania), got relegated (like Catania) and yet and they're back in A now...
