We all know that Davids is almost never used anymore and that sometimes he is not even called up by Mancini anymore. Cambiasso and C.Zanetti have exploded, yes, but surely there is always place for the Pitbull at least on the bench.
But what really escaped attention is Davids' reaction to the situation or rather, the lack thereof. Isn't that a bit odd? I mean, we are talking about the same Edgar Davids that complained left right and center when he was benched at Juve. Even Moggi was unable to keep him quiet! Yet at Inter, hardly anything is heard from him on the matter. How come? Inter has been known for it's inability to keep things like those within the walls of the locker room in the past and it's unlikely that the directors have become experts in keeping secrets overnight. So, the only logical conclusion is that something big happened, that goes much beyond the normal coach-player quarell.
While nobody has any real idea what is happening, I can report a rumour going around Milano lately. It is said that Mancini is under orders from above to use Davids as less as possible because , allegedly, Davids had an affair with Afef, the wife of Tronchetti Provera, Inter's second largest shareholder. I emphasize again, it's only a rumour and you are welcome to dismiss it completely, but surely you would agree with the first part of my post?
What is really behind Davids' case?
