OBAMA HAS A GREAT TAN, SAYS BERLUSCONI

Italy’s bungling prime minister caused embarrassment last night when he complimented US President-elect Barack Obama on his “suntan”.

Silvio Berlusconi praised America’s first black president for being “young, handsome and tanned”.

Last night Mr Berlusconi, 72 – no stranger himself to a year-round suntan – was condemned for his remarks.

But he hit back at critics, saying: “What’s the problem? It was a compliment. If these people don’t have a sense of humour why don’t they just...”

What a joker :jester:

Post your best Berlusconi moments here.

An old classic, how could I have forgotten this one! That crazy Berlusconi, always clowning around.

Berlusconi Nazi jibe row deepens

STRASBOURG, France (CNN) -- Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is under mounting pressure to apologize after comparing a German lawmaker to a Nazi concentration camp commander during a speech to the European Parliament.

Berlusconi was laying out his agenda in Strasbourg Wednesday at the start of Italy's six months in charge of the rotating European Union presidency.

The controversial Italian prime minister told Socialist MEP Martin Schulz: "I know in Italy there is a producer, producing a film on Nazi concentration camps. I will suggest you for the role of kapo (commander). You would be perfect for that role."

Berlusconi's comment, which he insisted was meant as an ironic joke, sparked fury and overshadowed the presentation of Italy's priorities for its six-month EU presidency.

Euro MPs on all political sides condemned the attack, warning it went beyond a personal insult and had plunged the European Union into crisis.

The diplomatic fallout reached Berlin, where the Italian ambassador was called by German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder for an explanation.

Opposition Italian MPs demanded that he resign, and even some of his political allies expressed dismay at his outburst.

A vile, corrupt man with no morals and a brain inversely proportional to his ego. But don't just take my word for it, The Economist said the same and won a libel case against the buffoon.

As for the gaffes, there are so many, but a few for starters:

At a rally during the 2006 election campaign:
"Read The Black Book of Communism and you will discover that in the China of Mao, they did not eat children, but had them boiled to fertilise the fields."

On left-wing voters at a conference of retailers during the 2006 campaign:
"I trust the intelligence of the Italian people too much to think that there are so many pricks around who would vote against their own best interests."

At the launch of the 2006 campaign:
"I am the Jesus Christ of politics. I am a patient victim, I put up with everyone, I sacrifice myself for everyone."

Promising to put family values at the centre of his campaign:
"I will try to meet your expectations, and I promise from now on, two-and-a-half months of absolute sexual abstinence, until [election day on] 9 April."

On himself:
"The best political leader in Europe and in the world."

"There is no-one on the world stage who can compete with me."

All BS. You couldn't sound more commie and stupid if you tried. Where do you get your news fool? www.commies.com? Oh wait! From a KNOWN left wing magazine! :yuck:

Berlusconi is hated because he is a good leader. Notice I did not say the best, nor am I here to be the ultimate Berlusconi defender as some like to mock me as, but facts and figures for those who do know Italian politics are there for everyone to see. I am tired of these left wing losers, who have gone completely insane with their idiotic beliefs of being "the good" people and do nothing but protest in the streets and smoke pot all day long. Trust me, I have been and still find myself in that reality.

This is political discussion, and as such it has no place in XT, so I won't even start on talking on how Veltroni and other left wing clowns have ruined their respective countries and reputations.

Btw, I like Obama, but check this out... seems like he has done a gaffe too and this time, unlike Berlusconi... its a real one.

PS: If you got to report things on someone, make them to be true, not BS. Like the Shultz story, Berlusconi is 100% right.

And come on... what a way to completely change what someone means...

How disgusting PC you lot are...

This is what Berlusconi said...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Uf-PTmnIg&feature=related

Shall I translate?

Of course, having a new generation of politicians, like the one represented by Dimitri Medvedev and Barack Obama, is for sure a good point of start, I think, actually I am SURE that this will make it easier on our relationships (between countries). I told the president (Medvedev) that Obama has all the qualities for me to get along with him because he is young, good looking and suntanned, so I think there will be a good coalition (understanding).

You lot are disgusting.
