Yep and we could definitely use a holding midfielder.

Just not sure whether we need a foreign one. Shouldn't there be plenty in the UK knowing the usual traditional British bulldog spirit?

Sandro deal agreed

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Internacional for the transfer of Sandro to the Club, subject to the player passing a medical examination.

The Brazil international will join up with our squad following the conclusion of Internacional's Copa Libertadores campaign this summer.

The 21-year-old midfielder has appeared on 73 occasions for Inter, scoring three times and helped them to a second-place finish in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A last season to qualify for the 2010 Copa Libertadores.

Sandro made his international debut against Chile in a World Cup qualifier last September.

He has also been capped on eight occasions for the national team's Under-20 side and was their captain as they triumphed in the South American Youth Championship in Venezuela in February 2009.

Yeah, not quite sure about extending Huddlestone and then signing Sandro a few days later. Bye-bye Palacios in the summer? (Only for big money, of course..)

Also not a fan of the fact that he gets to play Libertadores and then join us.. Misses all the pre-season bonding (learning English?) and the friendlies, plus he'll tire out sooner later in the season. Harumpf. :(

Ah, let him have a party. You don't win the CL everyday.

Hopefully will see him before September 11 though

it's definitely ok to have a party or vacation...but why the coach didn't know where he was? was redknapp just joking or really had communication problem between the club and the player?

Tottenham midfielder Sandro turned up early to catch his flight to Germany for the Champions League clash with Werder Bremen - only to be told he was not even in the squad.

The bungling Brazilian, an £8 million summer signing from Internacional, is still learning English so relies on Portuguese and Spanish-speaking team-mates to help him out.

Honduras midfielder Wilson Palacios told him to get to Stansted airport "bright and breezy" on Monday morning, according to the Daily Mail, and he eagerly followed instructions.

But the 21-year-old was not named in Spurs’ A-squad for the Champions League and needs to have been at the club for two years to be considered for the U21 exemption list.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and club secretary Darren Eales told the shocked player he could not fly to Germany but would instead play in a friendly match with the reserves.
It is not the first time Sandro has been involved in an awkward situation with his new club.

He was due to arrive at White Hart Lane in late August but initially failed to show after he was invited to train with the Brazil squad for the international break in early September.

This led to Redknapp joking that the player's existence may be a "myth", although he eventually joined up with the squad.

Spurs have an embarrassment of riches in central midfield, with Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Jamie O'Hara and Palacios all competing with Sandro for two or three available places.

Sandro, who agreed a deal with Spurs in March but waited until he won the Copa Libertadores with Internacional before joining the North London club, appears to have been bought with the future in mind.
