Yeah I was wondering exactly the same ... On the other side there was no Cauthemoc Blanco ... some strange decisions are being taken there (no Marcelinho for Brasil and no Robert Enke for Germany to increase the list)

From what i know is that Blanco actually said no to the national team as he wants to rest.

It's true that Cúper is a great coach and the facts prove it, but they still need a bit more to reach the level of the team of the late 90s.

Sure ... it's not like I expect them to reach the Champions League next season ... they hardly stand chances to make it to the UEFA-Cup even ... there's just to many teams fighting for those places, but probably a finishing in the higher midfield would do to build on (UI-Cup eventually)
So when we give Cuper some years, why not make it back to Europe within the coming decade?

Oh, probably they can strike Fyssas from Benfica then since he is not in Koeman's plans anymore ... he's a decent left back when defending but lousy when going forward (which actually might have to do with the fact he hardly does it once in a game) ... however, think I would've kept him as a back-up player. He's not that bad (he's international for Greece in the end)

Sure, but they should start changing their policy and they should think in big words. Players like Luque, Etoo, Ibagaza, Engonga, Leo Franco, Dani, Riera, Novo,... I mean ANYONE who did something right in Mallorca, was sold. You can't make big things selling everything.

Fyssas is a terrible player. Despite his okish performances in the Euro the only reason he's still playing for Greece is because there are no other left backs apart from him and Venetidis. Venetidis has long-term injury and Rehhagel nowadays prefers to use a right-footed center-back as left back than Fyssas!

Well, I liked him at the Euros, but I guess that was the high watermark for him.

Grande, Nando Pons and Cuper are taking things easy now, they have a list of over 30 footballers to reinforce the squad, and they are probably assessing their attributes. Grande has said the club will bring in a media crack (by Mallorca´s standards).

That´s just what I think, too. It´s no wonder that there had to come a season like the one just finished. Even though they have a quality coach with Cuper it´s hard for Mallorca to reach the UEFA Cup next season. I would be happy when there´s no fight against relegation and UI-Cup would be very good.

It´s just the same with the FC Nürnberg. Now that our team stays a second season in the Bundesliga a lot of people ( in the official forum) think that the team has to finish on a UEFA Cup or UI Cup place. Both teams have to make one step after the another...

But let´s see what the season brings. Perhaps Cuper surprises us all with a strong team..

The future of Cortes, Campano and Niño is in the air. Cortes ends his contract in 2007, and the other two after next season, so the club is looking to renew them or sell them.

NAVARRO JOINS MALLORCA.

I've copied this post from the Barca board as it concerns Mallorca, hope you don't mind Mr.Laporta :smileani:

Barcelona's Fernando Navarro has joined Mallorca on loan for the 2005-06 campaign after failing to break into the Barcelona side during their championship-winning season.

The young left back was upset after coach Frank Rijkaard assured him that he was part of his plans before Christmas, but then only played him five times last term.

Navarro joined Barca in 1993 and made his way through the youth ranks before being promoted to the first team squad under Carles Rexach in 2001.

He then played regularly in defence under Louis van Gaal in 2003, but a knee ligament injury curtailed his progress and he watched from the sidelines as the club brought in Gio van Bronckhorst and Silvinho to fill his position.

After he recovered, he was shipped out to Albacete for a six-month loan spell and returned to Barcelona hopeful of forcing his way back into the reckoning.

But with the team firing on all cylinders as they raced towards their first title in six years, Navarro played a bit-part role and stated that he was keen to leave in March.

Now he will spend a year on loan at Son Moix under the guidance of Hector Cuper in a move that could be made permanent next summer.

IMO a good move for both sides, as it will give Navarro a run of games and Mallorca get a decent player.
