Cavani quitting PSG early
Football Italia

Edinson Cavani and Thomas Meunier have reportedly played their last games for Paris Saint-Germain, so won’t stay on for the Champions League.

Ending Ligue 1 early due to the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be a rushed decision, but the club still has to prepare for the remaining European fixtures in August.

According to RMC Sport in France, Cavani and Meunier have informed PSG they won’t extend their contracts beyond June 30, so will walk away as free agents without playing in the Champions League.

Layvin Kurzawa and Choupo-Moting are in similar situations, but they seem prepared to stay until the end of August.

Meunier is widely expected to join Borussia Dortmund, but Cavani has been heavily linked with Inter, Napoli and Atletico Madrid.

I wonder if we showed interest in Meunier? Dortmund are a decent side but no Real/Barca/Bayern.. if we make a decent offer to him it's not impossible to get him.

Corona fecked over PSG. No league so no match practice for CL, and when CL returns their squad will be weakened

Another season where the Qatari project fails to win in Europe

He's joining Dortmund, it's done. German, Belgian, French media reporting it. One of these very badly kept secrets...

I would like to see us move for Kostic or Alonso, but I think it's more likely we'll end up with Junior Firpo in a Lautaro deal.

Inter 'go for Kyle Walker'
Football Italia

Inter are reportedly pursuing a deal for Manchester City and England right-back Kyle Walker.
Walker has been at City since 2017, winning back-to-back Premier League titles, but broke coronavirus rules four times during the lockdown.

According to The Sun, Inter are ‘ready to pounce’ for the 30-year-old, who ‘could be tempted’ by the prospect of a fresh start in Italy.

However, the newspaper warns he still retains the faith of his coach Pep Guardiola and only extended his contract last summer.

Walker has played 31 times for City this season, even playing in goal for the final few minutes of their 1-1 draw with Atalanta in the Champions League.

Instead, the Nerazzurri may have a better shot of bringing back Joao Cancelo, who has failed to dislodge his rival since arriving from Juventus a year ago.

As per The Sun, the Portuguese will be available for £60m (€66.3m) this summer.

Inter have signed several players from Premier League clubs in recent months, including Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young and Christian Eriksen.

Damn, that would be great.

The Sun is one of the least reliable news sources in England.

Although a Cancelo to Inter deal might be possible if City swap him with Semedo, which has been touted for a while.

Marotta: 'Lautaro never asked to leave'
Football Italia

Inter director Beppe Marotta confirms Lautaro Martinez is wanted by Barcelona, but ‘he has never expressed the desire to leave. Never. I am very optimistic he’ll be with us next season.’

The Nerazzurri host Sampdoria at 20.45 UK time (19.45 GMT), click here for the line-up and LIVEBLOG.

“Lautaro Martinez is the focus of other clubs’ attention on the transfer market, everyone knows this,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.
“He has immense quality and many teams who would love to negotiate with us for him. Inter have no intention of selling our best players, so if a player does not express the desire to leave, then we’ll hold on tight.

“Lautaro is flattered by the attention of big clubs, but he has never expressed the desire to leave. Never. I am very optimistic that we’ll see him playing for us again next season.

“There has been a lockdown for three months, so he should be evaluated on what he’s done all season, not just in the Coppa Italia semi-final with Napoli.”

This is a rescheduled Week 25 fixture from February, so a win would put Inter within six points of leaders Juventus. Can it reopen the Scudetto race?

“That will certainly be extra motivation for everyone, as anything can happen in this campaign and we must be fired up for three very important points this evening,” continued Marotta.

“This club has reached a level of stability thanks to owners who are in love with Inter and want to achieve important objectives. Consequently, the team works in the best way, too.

“The Zhang family and those of us in management have adapted to the ambitions of the club. We started the journey last year and will try to continue this growth.”

Inter on Tonali, there is one more ally: grandmother Gina

Goal Italia editorial staff
Last update 19 hours ago

Sandro Tonali's grandmother, Mrs. Gina Damiani, confesses as an Interista on Facebook. The Brescia player is very close to her.

Sandro Tonali , and this is now established, is one of Inter's very first goals for the next season. There are no concrete news in the negotiation of the Nerazzurri club with Brescia , but according to 'Il Corriere dello Sport' Antonio Conte's team could have a surprise ally.

We are talking about grandma Gina, a great football fan and declared and historic Inter fan . Tonali has a special relationship with his grandmother , to whom he also gave his debut shirt with the National team.

The lady has a page on Facebook and replied to an AC Milan fan who asked to convince Tonali to marry the Rossoneri.
"I feel sorry for you but I have been an Interist since birth! Come on Sandro, come on Inter."
Although it seems a small thing, for a boy very attached to his grandmother, it could be a detail not to be underestimated in the negotiation that could bring Tonali to Inter.

I think with Vag at left back and Tonali's grandmother doing orange halves at half-time we will be unstoppable next season

Kumbulla to Lazio, Cetin to Verona
Football Italia

Lazio are currently meeting Verona chiefs over Marash Kumbulla, with Roma’s Mert Cetin set to replace the defender at the Bentegodi.

Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb report Lazio President Claudio Lotito is holding face-to-face talks with Verona counterpart Maurizio Setti in Rome this afternoon.

According to Corriere dello Sport and Nicolo Schira, the Aquile are offering €18-20m plus two players, purported to be Cristiano Lombardi and Riza Durmisi.

The deal suits both parties as Verona can write down a strong profit on their balance sheet before June 30 and Lazio will get a long-term replacement for Stefan Radu.

As for who will replace the Albanian, Sky and TMW agree Hellas have settled on Cetin, negotiating a season-long loan with an option to buy.

However, Roma would have included a buyback option for the Turk, who only signed from Genclerbirligi last summer, making five appearances.

Meunier was never going to happen Ahmed.

Dortmund had that deal sewn up months ago. It is an attractive place to play: good stadium, CL football, very good players, high wages. Reminds me of when they got Witsel who was covered by Juve, among others.

Kumbulla seems a missed opportunity but I have a strong suspicion we will sign Vertonghen through the Lukaku and Eriksen connection.

Witsel didn't prefer Dortmund to juve, red. Witsel preferred China to juve. Dortmund signed him from the Chinese league afterwards iirc.

Dortmund haven't won anything in a while, so what they play CL... next season we'll be there hopefully for the 3rd season running.

Had he joined Real or Barca or Bayern ok, but Dortmund while being a decent destination isn't really an upgrade on PSG where he plays CL every season AND wins trophies. In fact PSG knocked out Dortmund from CL not too long ago.

Vertonghen would be ideal as he covers LCB and LWB positions and is experienced. But I heard Roma will sign him to replace Smalling..

Hmm let's see. Let's hope we reach an agreement with our friends in Madrid.. and if so I would forgive Marotta for not getting Meunier.

Apparently Hakimi wants guarantees of playing and that won't be the case at Real.

Reports: Inter to sign Hakimi
Football Italia

Reports this afternoon are claiming Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi is about to join Inter in a €40m deal.

Hakimi is currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but his two-year arrangement is coming to an end.

Now, El Chiringuito and Sky Sport Italia are both reporting the 21-year-old has already given Inter the green light to signing for them.

Furthermore, the Nerazzurri would be in advanced talks over a €40m transfer for the Moroccan, who has provided 10 assists in 32 appearances this season.

He particularly caught the eye during Dortmund’s Champions League group games against Inter before the turn of the year.

---

So Eriksen scores against us in CL and we sign him, hopefully the same is repeated with Hakimi..

40mill would make him our most expensive defender ever but he is one of the best full backs in football currently so worth it.

Can also play both flanks.

Hakimi is much much better signing then Meunier, would be huge coup by Marotta, 22 year old top wingback in a team that needs exactly that.

Dortmund are a upper level stop gap/talent farm team who dont pay that much salary, nor make pretensions of going for titles, thats why their team is so young, lots of breaking out young stars before they make big moves, or solid good players who left top clubs because it didnt work out or time to move (veteran Hummels, Götze, Meunier, Can, Witsel falls in to this cathegory too). The only anomaly in this team is Reus, a genuine peak top player, you ask yourself why is he is still in Dortmund? Answer is easy, he is injured half the season every season.

red you misremember the Witsel sitaution completely wrong, he didnt reject Juve, in that summer, he had agreed terms and was litterally in a hotel in Turin waiting to be announced on 31st august deadline day, but Zenit backed out on last friggin second. Then next transfer window/season he went to China because they offered 18m a year! Then couple years later ends up in Dortmund.

It was much to do with about nothing, because he is just an ok/decent player. Kinda glad we missed out, because he is the typical level of mid that has derailed our midfield all this time.

This is huge, if true. The Hakimi deal, I mean. Not very happy about us sleeping on Kumbulla @Osman
