Similarly to what happens with the Spanish clubs, four clubs will take part in it with two semifinals which will include the first two classified of serie A and the two finalists of the Italian Cup.
There is also an agreement with Saudi Arabia for hosting four of the next six editions (two in SA, then two ?, and then two in SA again).

Hopefully Cremonese makes it by reaching the final of the Italian Cup lol.

If say juve reach Coppa final and finish 2nd, I guess that means 3rd place in the league makes the Supercoppa? As there's no such thing as '3rd place' in Coppa Italia.

Anyhow nowadays everyone is thinking of expanding to have more matches and more $

It's also good marketing for the league. Italian football is pretty popular in the Middle East.

But hypothetically speaking, not necessarily the next edition: a Supercoppa having the Milan clubs, juve and a Rome club would be worth more to win than a one off game I guess.

It would indeed be nice if Cremonese reach the Coppa final and get to play Supercoppa. They might be in Serie B by then so it would be a nice financial boost and also good for the club from a sporting perspective. I think Fiorentina will be too good for them though.

Please tell me that they at least plan to return to the old ways and schedule it in pre-season again. 🙏

Two games mid-season is too much of a distraction. Almost as bad as the CWC or whatever it's called.

Can't wait for the pictures of Javier Zanetti in tears after Inter wins the Italian Supercup as they stand 8th in Serie A.
Pictures, videos, quotes.. you name it. And not just from JZ but the other current management members, players and the Inter fans that actually go to the stadium. Trophies were made to be won and celebrated. Absurd concept, I know.

I doubt your opinion matters more in this case compared to people directly involved with the club.

Expanding Supercoppa also means more income for the clubs involved. Not exactly a terrible thing.

A 3rd consecutive Supercoppa win does look like a tasty prospect. We never won 3 of them in a row. Hopefully we reach the Coppa final to be sure of a place in the 2024 Supercoppa (or finish 2nd in Serie A, though if I have to choose I would go with 3rd or 4th in Serie A plus Coppa final rather than 2nd in Serie A and no Coppa final)

I assume that Saudi Arabia has the same kind of sci-fi stadiums with super AC that Qatar was talking about before being awarded the 2022 WC. 🦄

Terrible idea, hopefully the clubs won't approve this.
I don't think Saudis have air conditioned stadia no. I might be mistaken though.

Clubs will make a lot of money and it won't be yearly. Every 4 years Like the NTs WC.

Mixed feelings/thoughts tbh. On one hand, if 4 decent Italian sides are in it, it would be worth more to win than a one off match between just 2 teams. On the other hand, a Super Cup should be a game between 2 teams that actually won something the previous season.

Well the truth is that oftentimes the champion of last year sucks the next year, so have more teams in the mini tourney increases the chances of having two currently good teams playing against each other. And btw Nera, how about getting non-Italian refs for this tourney? It might make it mean something more to me in that case. Hell, I would take the refs from the Middle East...
