I didn't quite know what to name this topic, but then I thought it would be nice to have a topic for or U19 and U21 teams. I have already written about it in the AaFK thread, where I dicussed some players and gave the results from a big junior tournament this week.

The U19 team is going for a 7 day trip to La Manga in Spain. Coach Bjørn Hansen today picked the squad, apart from 4 players which he will pick later. The U19 team will play in the U19 European Championships this summer, which will be held in Norway.

The squad:

Jan Kjell Larsen, Haugesund
Magnar Nordtun, Viking
Vegar Landro, Brann
Kristian Onstad, Lyn
Lars Martin Engedal, Start
Morten Skjønsberg, Stabæk
Lars Eriksen, Lyn
Kristoffer Hæstad, Start
Christian Grindheim, Haugesund
Joakim Austnes, Aalesund
Daniel Hanssen, Brann
Martin Wiig, Odd Grenland
Trond Olsen, Bodø/Glimt
Armin Sistek, Odd Grenland
Per Verner Rønning, Levanger
Eirik Winsnes, Rosenborg

Are you young enough? Personally I am not bad at football, but at the age of 23, I do think my hopes of ever making it to the top are far gone. If I in a few years decide to get in top shape and play football again, I would probably play in a lower division ;)

I saw Daniel Braaten in about 5-6 games last year, and he was very impressive, perhaps Skeid's best player. I think Hoff, Ludvigsen and Braaten all will dominate Norwegian football in the next years.

Yupp, Braaten is damn good. The squad is a great mix of experienced Tippeligaen players and new talented guys. I've never heard of Jon André Fredriksen before, but I guess he's very talented. Ludvigsen, Karadaz, Hangeland, Hanstveit and Hoff should be the most influental players, it's surely an exciting team.

You are right, it's funny how someone that plays for Råde manages to get on the national team...one should almost think he is better than the others  I mean from all of the clubs in Norway apart from the top league clubs, he is the only one that managed to get into the U21 team :)

Found some stuff about this new guy from Råde.

It seems like Jon André Fredriksen is on his way to join Moss. In Moss' game vs Skeid yesterday, Fredriksen played the first 45 minutes in the Moss attack. On www.mossfk.no , Fredriksen is included in the list of Moss players for the 2002 season. The web page describes him as a midfielder.

The u21 and u19 teams played eachother yesterday. It ended with a 2-1 win to the oldboys from u21. I'm not sure who played, but Azar Karadas scored one of the u21 goals with an assist from Erlend Hanstveit.

Other Brann players in action were Håkon Opdal for u21 and Vegar Landro and Daniel Moen Hansen for u19.

Norway U21 coach Per Høgmo gave credit to Azar Karadas and Brede Hangeland for their solid displays as central defenders in the first half. Høgmo also pointed out Kristoffer Hæstad and Christian Grindheim on the U19 team as great prospects.

The Norwegian U21 team suffered an embarassing 4-1 loss to Lokomotiv Moscow's first team earlier this week. I didn't really feel like writing about the match, but I know that the players now are back with their clubs, in Norway or La Manga depending on where the clubs are now.

Interesting to see that Austnes played the whole match for the U19 team, I think he will become an important player for AaFK this season. :)

These are the next matches for the U21 mens team:
16.04 Norway - Sweden
20.05 Norway - Holland
23.05 Norway - Holland

And for the U19 mens team:
09.04 Poland - Norway
11.04 Poland - Norway
20.05 Wales - Norway
22.05 Wales - Norway

All matches are traning matches.

The U19 team for girls, have just qualified for the European Championships, after almost missing out because of a few bad results.
