Do people think Totti is on a par with the great Zidane?
Zidane is a 3 time WPOTY, absolutely pivotal for France in the 98 WC win, also out of this world in Euro 2000, and how can one forget his volley against Leverkusen in the CL final in 2002. :lick:The poise, the artistry, the ball control, Zizou was a sight to behold on a football field. He graced many tournaments at International and club level and left people in awe of his god gifted talent. Quite simply, the man was a player for the very big occasions, and quite rightly will go down as one of the all-time greats of the game.
Totti is a very good player no doubt, but is over-rated by many in relation to players like Zidane. Yes he has been magnificent for Roma in SerieA, in which he helped them win the scudetto in 2001. His performances for Italy in major championships have been very average compared to players like Zidane. My personal opinion is that, Totti isn't even in the Zidane class.
I made this thread due to the Roma fan Capitan Totti stating his player was on a par with the great Zidane which i find astonishing to say the least.
I just hope Roma fans and fans of other clubs would give their unbiased opinions on the two players in question.
