Yes, Barca have managed to wipe out all the debt accumulated under the Joan Gaspart era! Today the last tranche to pay off a 93M euro debt was delivered. Amazing turn around by Laporta.

Goes to show theres nothing that prevents any club from being competitive in the sporting arena as well as maintaining the use of black ink for the final line of the financial reports!

Ironic that they are acheiving this just in the time of a massive global economic slowdown.

this maybe a better news than winning something, to remember this club was in bad shape in the past 2 season, losing on of the good income in Ronaldinho leaving, and being in a big fuss and crisis talk from allover the world, still it comes in a time the world economic is getting a blow after another, getting shaky, it makes us proud and happy.

now its time to invest to keep this economic level intact if not increasd.

good job Laporta and the men who worked it up with you, Soriano is the name right?

LOL! I hate that commercial!

Props to Laporta, first the great results and turn around by the team and now the financial side. Sooooo where are all the bashers who wanted him out a couple months ago?

Laporta has been great at everything in mu opinion. some mistakes true but overall he's made the team very competitive, supported the signings, cleared all debt, and expanded the image of Barca for the future in the US.

the rest is up to the players.. but as a president he has done his job

Great work, this management promised prudence everywhere and have more good investments than bad in both players and assets including the progression of the youth team.

All this without stupid, bankrupt shirt sponsors.truly amazing. You know ManUtd have 17 Leagues and 3 CLs,great success in the last 2 decades but they are on a LBO but we are all equity.

Just wanted to pointout that not having a debt doesnt essentialy mean that you are financially better than other clubs in debt !

Its an advantage without doubt dont get me wrong.... especially that the global recession will start to take its toll on the clubs

Technically true, but in practice the non-restricted spending would balance out any theoretical earning difference. And given the earning power amongst the top few clubs, this is a MASSIVE thing. Under Laporta, our income has consistently grown, and now our expenditure has been reduced thanks to cleared debts. Assuming that they don't **** it up again, we are in a great position to match any big spender if necessary. Of course, it practically never will be, but it's good to be able to look in that direction again.

Dude, first of all we have less of our growth attuned to inorganic factors like transfers,a lot of our growth is organic.

We dont have a shirt sponsor and we always play good levels of the CL which gives us more revenue(I agree that revenue might come down) but with all this credit crunch,Barca is anyway going to pay more interest costs with the rates going high, thats why being debt free is an advantage in today's world since the cost of debt is quite high everywhere.
