Once again the Biscan situation comes up after a good performance in the champions league yesterday. We don't have the whole story from what happened and I don't think Biscan ever commented on it, or did I miss it? I think I remember somebody (maybe Rapaic) intimating that there was more to the situation than the press knew.

Would you guys have him back in the national team? I think most of us would agree that he can contribute something, especially if Vranjes for instance gets called up.

I think there was way more to it before the Bulgaria game as well. I am of the school of thought that says we should let Biscan back into the national team, but with an honest explanation. I think we need him in the middle of the park(Ivan Leko-Jerko Leko-Niko Kovac) but he is inconsistent with his play at Liverpool(one great Champs League game, one poor league game, one game he doesn't even sit on the bench)so it's a tough situation. I think Markovic is the most to blame for this though for some reason :groan: because Cico obviously wants him and thinks highly of him.

I agree that he's inconsistent but it's hard to keep consistent when you don't consistently get a chance either. Obviously there's some strong competition at Pool in the likes of Xavi and Gerrard but there have been opportunities this season when Rafa chose against playing him.

He can be a solid player for the team and like I said earlier, if Vranjes can get called up and actually start then Igor definately can.

I would also like to see him back providing there's an explanation as to his actions. Even if he has no good explanation but just apologizes I'd still take him back. I'm sure that the majority of Croats being good Catholics would be able to forgive ;)

It is all good when he plays like he did last night, but he needs to do it at least five times in a row before he should be considered for the NT. I love Biscan and have always stuck up for him but it is up to him to make something of his career now. One game he is good and then he plays a few bad ones before he has another good one. Talent wise he has teh ability for sure, it is just a serious lack of confidence and the effects of spending that much time on the bench that is holding him back.

As for the incident with the NT, I believe he said something not long ago about how he did it because of the way he was treated by HNS and Baric. He also said that as long as the current HNS is in charge then he won't play for the NT. It was pretty obvious he did it because of them and not because he turned his back on Croatia or the team. Like Ivo said, Rapaic also said there was more to it and I really do believe it. He has never been the type of player to do that. He has spent most of his career on the Liverpool bench/stands and has never complained.

Cico wants him the NT but Markovic won't allow it.:rollani:

I just read in "Sportske Novosti". Otto Baric called up Igor for match against Bulgaria. At that time Igor played extremely constistent in Liverpool (in first 11),he played about 15 games in a row as a center back with Hyppia.Otto always said that he will only brought to NT those players who play for their clubs (and not those who are always subs,or always injured).Otto called up Igor because he played for club and he promised him that he will play in first team against Bulgaria.Igor really deserved that because he worked hard and did not loose faith in himself when he was on margin.Igor was very said and struck when he heard that he won't play in first team because Otto put in first 11 players who didn't play in their clubs at all or were always injured.
Today in Sportske novosti it was said that some players who played against Bulgaria in first 11 were in Casino playing roulette late in night just before that game and Igor could not stand that injustice and just left the team.

Second thing,Igor didn't blame anyone of his teammates or even coach for anything (Seric said to Baric in a phone conversation "Seljačino"= asshole). He was always quiet, hardworking and fair on the field and outside the field. He kept working hard and quiet in Liverpool as he always did (remember what horrible things did he went through at Houllier-how long didn't he play or played on every position except his natural one in midfield but he still didn't blame his coach for that and he could).I am very happy because of his good recent performances and I am glad to see that he is becoming Anfield's KOP IDOL!
Igor has amazing personality, he was always idol of B.B.B and after Zajec one of most loved Dinamo's capitains.
Liverpool fans know to appreciate Igor I hope we will be able to do so as well.

In interviews all Croatian NT players said that Igor is nice guy and want him back in squad even Cico.Just that old man Markovic is trying to be blind.

Igore you'll never walk alone

For those who don't speak Croatian it is just a paragraph from SN newspapers about Roulette activities of some NT players.Who knows...

Some Biki pictures downthere.

I dont think there is a situation here at all.
Maybe Biscan was right, but that doesnt matter at all, 'cause we'll never know the truth. We can only guess, and believe what we want. However, if he wants to play he simply has to apologise. Then we'll talk..
And it doesnt matter if he's not guilty, he still has to apologise to show that he cares, that he wants, that he doesnt consider himself bigger than the team.

I am really sad to see how some of you look at Igor. You always look at his performances with double glasses(it is just one good game,he is usually crap),you never give him a boost, wish him a luck.It sometimes seems that some of you can't wait for Igor's bad performance to spit again on him.Just like he isn't Croat.Do you really think that our other players (for example Vranješ,Leko,Agić,N.Kovač) really are so much better and still when they play bad game you never spit on them like you usually do in Igor's case.

Just go to thread "Riise praises Biscans determination" and look what some of you wrote than and now you act like nothing has happened,like-We need Igor,we believe in him .It is just sad. That is negative attribute of us Croatians sometimes.Instead of being proud to have Croatian guy who plays for Liverpool we would usually treat him just like he is crap and we are shame of him.

Those licemjeri ("people with two faces") will found their Biscan spitting posts there.

Biscan was never man with two faces, he has his principles.Guy with atittude and not double faced like Marković.

Here is the problem.

Igor is a traitor and as such I despise him as a human being.

The solution to this entire problem is in his hands. He could either apologize if he did something wrong, or if he doesn't think that he did anything wrong he could give an interview to a reporter telling his side of the story. Normal people like me could then judge whether he was or wasn't wrong and if indeed he wasn't this would make the situation far worse for Markovic and may end up costing him his job (who knows).

The fact is that the ball is in his court and he is doing nothing to atone for his "sins".

Ola, you say Riise praises his determination. Well he definetly lacked that determination when he needed to stay in the team inspite of everything, and not run away. Now the papers have crusified him, and he has only himself to blame.
I'll repeat, public in general considers him a traitor, and he simply has to apologise. You can't expect our NT to swallow its pride and come to him! If you expect that, then...well, you have another thing coming.

I agree with you about Igor's apology. If Igor really thinks that he wasn't guilty (and I am sure he thinks so) than he should explain whole situation in a press conference.Public has right to know what has happened, it is NT after all.
I just want to say that Igor for sure isn't traitor. In his whole career he didn't have any incidents and I am sure that there has happened someting really bad when he decided to leave.
If he is guilt was his (which I doubt) he should apologise.

I wanted to say something else.Read again my previous post and you will find out what I am really sad about.

All guys in NT are talking great about Igor.Generally he was always example of great man (not footballer but especially man) something like Robi Prosinecki. He is maybe to shy.I always think that he underrates himself a little bit.

What I like by Igor is that he never acts a STAR on a pitc and outside a pitch and he isn't ARROGANT.

Torcida, did you know that big Juve STAR Igor T., required to train separately from rest of the squad on EURO 2004?And he really did train separately, but that shouldn't be weird because he is a STAR and he plays in mighty Sie.. Juve!He also suggests what formation should we play and when Cico should call him up to NT because he doesn't always feel fit.But he is Juve star,he played a bunch of games for Juve except last few years and he can do what ever he wants.

And the rest of the team where not being traitors while playing Roulette the night before a game?

1. Nobody said anything about him not deserving a chance if he either apologizes or comes clean about what happened.

2. Turning the discussion from Pisscan to Tudor is a sign of desperation. This isn't a Tudor but a Pisscan discussion. Can't your arguments hold ground without going to another player? Just for your info, Tudor never abandoned his team and Tudor did let fame get into his head but unlike Pisscan Tudor is willing to go to a smaller club so that he can play again while Pisscan wastes his time in Liverpool where he playes every tenth game.

tako je..I agree he should apologise for leaving the team, but i have always said that there is more to it and there is. You might think what Ola wrote from SN is ridiculous but we have heard in the past about unprofessional behaviour from our players and other funny business that goes on in the NT.

Ola, stick around and post more often.:) This is a good discussion.

In closing....

JEDAN JE IGOR BISCAN!:proud:

Some of you guys are saying he needs to be more consistent but it's not like we have a spoil of riches in midfield and our current midfielders aren't all consistent either. We could definately use the help in the middle and Igor can provide another option.

As for him being a traitor that's way too harsh. It's not like he jumped ship to another country.
