the Baltic FA's have agreed to create a Baltic League, starting in 2007.
It will feature the four best of every country. The teams will be drawn into four groups of three, groups A; B and C will have one champion of a country, the second placed of a country and a fourth placed of a country. Group D will feature the pronze medalists of each country.
The teams will play each other home and away and the two best will advance to the quarter finals and play again home and away, aswell in the semifinals and final. this will make a total of 12 matchdays.
From 10th to 12th august 2006, a cup for the three current champions will be held in Liepaja.
I think that is finally a good idea. I am maybe wrong but does the winner of the Royal league got something at the end ?

I mean, will it be a competition for nothing or is it recognized by the UEFA ?

i don't think the winner gets an extra UEFA spot or anything, but it's surely more interesting for the teams and spectators to play against teams from neighbouring countries and it's also more profitable.

Im guessing it will be like the skandinavian Royal League. A off season friendly league with the top clubs from the region. The main thing is that it shoud not interfare with the national championships.

If the tournament was held in this summer we could have something like that :

Estonia
1. FC TVMK Tallinn 95
2. FC Levadia Tallinn 89
3. JK Trans Narva 75
4. FC Flora Tallinn 69

Latvia
1. Metalurgs 71
2. Skonto 58
3. Ventspils 55
4. Dinaburg 35

Lithuania
1.Ekranas Panevėžys 92
2.FBK Kaunas 82
3.Sūduva Marijampolė 59
4.Vėtra Vilnius 57

Group A
FC TVMK Tallinn
FBK Kaunas
Dinaburg

Group B
Metalurgs
FC Levadia Tallinn
Vėtra Vilnius

Group C
Ekranas
Skonto
FC Flora

Group D
JK Trans Narva
Ventspils
Sūduva Marijampolė

Look good. Does the scandinavian royal league work ?

could be. I dont really care enuff about this fake league. We allredy had a baltic league some time ago and that was a useless idea. Offcourse many things have changed since then.

i won't draw any conclusions before the league has even started. it's a good format imo, and will give the clubs more tough games.
and it's pretty pointless to compare this to the one during the soviet times.
