Winner of the group will play semi-final, third-place match and final format (with the other 3 League A winners) in June 2019 to become the UEFA Nations League winner
I strongly doubt Italy consider it much more than a friendly tournament. Being out of the next world cup will hardly change the point of view of our "addetti ai lavori".
Remember there is the 2022 WC preliminary draw in July 2019. It is possible that Italy could fall down the ranking after the WC with other European teams earning points from their WC games, which carry the highest weighting (more than qualifiers, Euro Champs Nations League), so collecting ranking points in these six games and the euro2020 qualifiers in Spring 2019 will be important.
