The legend has stopped with international football :moan: In 90 games for the Czech NT he has scored 55 times, that's the same amount as Romario for Brazil :proud::thumbsup:

Unfortunate for him, tonight was the first time the team lost in a match that he'd scored in, AND it's the first time the Turkey has ever beaten the Czech Republic.

A legend, and freak, of European football. Unlike other players in other national teams, this guy has remained useful despite his advancing age

maybe the Czech NT will play better football without him spear heading the attack?

Sad to see him go, but delighted for Turkiye :)

Thank you Koller!!

Hard to say better, I beleive we could play better also with him, just not exploiting this long-balls-to-Koller-tactics so much.

Best Czech striker ever. I would like him to continue with NT as long as he plays professionally. We do not have anyone better right now. He doesn't just have a great header but also is very good at passing and reading the play. Anyways he went out like a champion, scoring a huge goal in his last match.

He was a bit of a late bloomer. Prior to Euro 2000, I'd never heard of him.

Still, great player..his aerial battles against Stam :proud:

Very memorable player. Had good technique too that doesn't always go hand in hand with taller players. At his peak the hardest to play against and most effective striker in football.

Thank you, Jantje Koller.

He's a legend and was a crucial player for the Czech NT, always catching the ball well and setting it up to teammates, and his legendary headers. Never will be forgotten.

Koller not to return to Czech national team

Jan Koller, 35, the best striker of the Czech soccer history scoring 55 goals, will not return to the Czech national team mainly for family reasons, his manager Pavel Paska told Nova TV Wednesday.

He added that Koller would only focus on playing in the Russian Samara where he transferred in June from German FC Nuremberg, signing an 18-month contract with a one-year option with this club.

Koller's second daughter was born a couple of days ago, and he would like to have more time for the family, Paska said.

"After an interview with couch [Petr] Rada, Honza [familiar Jan] definitively decided to end in the national team for family reasons," Paska said.

Koller already announced he would leave the national team after the June Euro where the Czechs failed to advance from their group.

However, new coach Rada said, when he assumed the post, that Koller might help the Czech team in the qualification for the World Cup in 2010.

In the past, Koller played for French Monaco, German Dortmund, and Belgian Lokeren and Anderlecht Brussels.

All he had to do is show up to play a few key matches like those against Poland, Slovakia and maybe at the end. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me...

One of the first things Rada said when he was appointed NT coach is that he had an agreement with Koller to call him up for NT most important matches. Well now we know it is not happening. Rada :yuck:
