Hasan Doğan was elected TFF President on Feb.14. He stayed with the national team in Switzerland/Austia for 25 days and re-appointed Terim, then went to vacation in Bodrum yesterday. He suffered a heart failure at the hotel around 19:00 and was transfered to the hospital.
Mr.Doğan was 52, left wife and two children.

WOW. Terrible news. Just 2 weeks ago, he was sitting in the VIP stands next to Michel Platini and Angela Merkel at the match vs. Germany.

While he hadn't yet made sweeping changes of Turkish football, he did seem to be acting for the sport and not for his own ego, like Ulusoy.

RIP

Here is some more detail. It seems he was having dinner with Fatih Terim in Bodrum when he had the heart attack. :(
I really hope they weren't in some sort of argument or something stressful that led to this (...purely my wondering, not based on any fact or report)

According to TV reporters, he had lunch with Terim, Kizil, and guests like Beyazit Öztürk, then had casual tea with Terim and co. in the afternoon.
He was known to be a heavy-smoker, had high blood pressure, and reportedly just got out of hamam. He told Semih after the Croatia match, live on TV, he was glad he didn't suffer his fourth. (Nobody paid much attention then)

Funeral is to be held in Istanbul. Prime Minister and other VIPs' schedules are being coordinated. All NT players seem to be vacationing in Bodrum and they rushed to the hospital (Tuncay, Balta, Rustu, Semih, Ayhan, Arda, Hamit, Tumer). His parents heard the news in Abana (corrected).

Some very sad photos of his family, some of the coaches and players, and even Erdogan coming to visit him in the hospital: http://www.cnnturk.com/FotoGaleri/index.asp?PID=318&GID=477787

...there are obviously plenty more in the Turkish papers' websites....

This is really sad. He was just celebrating Turkish goals couple of weeks ago in the stands, now he is gone... Deaths that come just out of blue, without a warning are the most painful. I feel for his family :(

Seems like Euro 2008 took him to the edge and then he fell off just a few days later.

Shocking to say the least.
