Taça de Portugal 2014/2015

Semi Finals

First Leg

Estádio da Madeira, Funchal,
05.03.2015, 21:15 CET
Ref: Carlos Xistra (AF Castelo Branco)

vs

Nacional 2-2 SPORTING CP
(Luís Aurélio 50', Lucas João 59'; Tobias Figueiredo 55', Carlos Mané 83')

After such a bad game at Porto where we practically lost the chances of securing the second spot we are today playing a crucial game for what is left of this season.

The first leg of the Cup Semi Finals is a massive game for us because a good result will help us not only to give an important step to reach the final of the only competition which we have realistic chances of winning but will also help the squad to regain the confidence that was surely partly lost with last weekend's game.

Nani is injured so he was not called but Jefferson is back in the squad after his disciplinary problems were solved. All the rest of the squad is available.
The only doubt seems to be on who will be the forward starting.

The line-up will be posted here soon.

Felipe, do you know if it's possible for me (non socio or whatever) to obtain a ticket for the final at the Jamor?

Yes, I am sure it's possible. It will not be easy, especially if Sporting will be there, but it's always possible for non sócios to buy a ticket.

Not a good first half from Sporting with not enough pressure in the midfield and not enough speed and clarity upfront. It's true that we had much more of the ball but the truth is that we created as many clear goal chances as Nacional - two for each side. Nacional is a tricky side mainly when playing here but in a two legged tie there is no excuses for not beating them.

Adrien and Nani were lately passing through a bad period of form so it's not because of their absences that our game flow was poor.

More than changing players we need to change our attitude in the second half.

Incredible how easy Portuguese refs show yellow cards to teams wearing green.

In one minute one chance for each side, first Patrício making a good save and right after it a good counter led by Tanaka is wasted by Carrillo's poor finish.

1-0 to Nacional at 50' through Luís Aurélio after Patrício spilled the ball from a Tiago Rodrigues free kick.

At 55' Tobias Figueiredo is imperial in the air heading in a good free kick by Jefferson coming from the right flank. 1-1

At 57' MS didn't change his mind with the goal and makes the first sub:

Slimani IN for Tanaka

At 58' Nacional makes 2-1 thanks to a header of Lucas João. So much space left by Miguel Lopes to allow this cross on the left flank of Nacional.

At 71' Xistra leaves his mark in the game giving the second yellow to Miguel Lopes. The first one was obvious but this one was ridiculous as he doesn't even touch Nacional's player who faked an injury.
