Taça de Portugal 2013/2014

3rd Round

Estádio José Alvalade, 20.10.2013, 19:00 CET
Ref: Nuno Almeida (AF Algarve)
20,471 att.

vs

SPORTING CP 8-1 SC Alba

Our first game in the Cup this season will be against a 4th tier side but nonetheless Leonardo Jardim does not want to show any signs of not taking our opponents seriously and will field a team with a mixture between the regular starters and players that usually are part of the first squad but are not used so often.

Here's the starting line-up:

22 Marcelo Boeck
30 Iván Piris - 3 Maurício - 5 Marcos Rojo - 10 Gerson Magrão
21 Rinaudo
6 Vítor - 23 Adrien
28 Wilson Eduardo - 17 Fredy Montero - 18 Carrillo

Substitutes: 1 Rui Patrício, 41 Cédric, 35 Rúben Semedo, 8 André Martins, 9 Slimani and 36 Carlos Mané.

Changes in the goalkeeper, with Marcelo getting some important playing time with the first team. Changes also in defense, with Piris fielding on his more natural RB side and Magrão doing his first game as LB for us. Changes also in the midfield with Rinaudo replacing William Carvalho and Vítor in the place of André martins. Nothing new in the front line although it is very possible that Capel will play in the second half.

SPORTING 3-0 Alba at HT

As expected Sporting didn't come to this game with the intention of saving energies to next week's clássico and showed the usual good attacking game of this season.

Good work by both full backs, which are not regulars, also good work by both midfield players that haven't been regularly used this season so far, Rinaudo and Vítor, and the usual mobility of the attacking trio making sure that we solved the game after only half an hour.

One sub at HT with Rúben Semedo replacing Rojo. The Argentine had a very good first half but he has many miles in his legs after representing Argentina this week.

As expected Sporting didn't take the foot off the pedal and showed on the pitch the difference between the two sides. Great attitude by all the players no matter if they have been regularly playing in the first team or not.

Superb game by Montero once again. :worship:
