Here's one of the most important games of the season for us, as a win will put us just two games away from the Cup final at Jamor. We actually had a request of 40.000 tickets for this game in advance made by the communication director of a neighbourhood club from Lisbon. Here is a couple of his pics:

We really would have loved to provide them but for some strange reason his team will not show up. Strange.

Anyway, our real opponents will be Marítimo, a tough nut to crack. They will have all their midfielders available, on the contrary to the last two league games where, completely by coincidence, they faced Benfica and Porto. They have a very good team but so do we.

From our side, apart from the many absences due to injuries we will also miss Elias, who was sent off on the last league game at Académica. If we manage to finish more efficiently than last Sunday I believe we will reach the semis of the Cup.

Here's the list of players called by Domingos:

Goalkeepers: Rui Patrício and Marcelo Boeck.

Defenders: Daniel Carriço, Anderson Polga, Oguchi Onyewu, Evaldo, Santiago Arias, João Pereira and Emiliano Insúa.

Midfielders: Bruno Pereirinha, Stijn Schaars, André Santos, André Martins and Diego Capel.

Forwards: Ricky van Wolfswinkel, André Carrillo, Diego Rubio and Valeri Bojinov.

I'll be flying tomorrow to Lisbon but I hope to arrive on time for the kick off. I will not be at the stadium but hopefully I will be there at the clássico on the 7th against the northern scumbags. :nasty:

SPOOOOOOOOOORTING!!!!!!!!! :strong:

Yellow card to Rafael Miranda in the 18th minute. Hard challenge, rightly sees the yellow card.

Onyewu misses a good chance in the 42nd minute. Cross into the box, good diving header from him and it was always going to be a difficult finish, but it goes just wide of the post.

Yellow card to Andre Martins in the 43rd minute for a big dive in the Maritimo box.

He was looking for the contact the whole way, jumping into the Maritimo defender and falling to the ground.

A bunch of nonsense between van Wolfswinkel and Joao Guilherme just before half-time.

Wolfswinkel fouls Guilherme, ref blows the whistle, Wolfswinkel does a little stomp to Guilherme on the ground, Guilherme retaliates and kicks back, Wolfswinkel falls to the ground and starts rolling around.

Ref tells them both to knock it off and get on with it.

0-0 at HT.

A fiery game with lots of passion and intensity, but unfortunately little football to show so far.

Carrillo has probably been Sporting's best player, easily dribbling opponents and creating some danger, but the lack of Elias in the midfield is visible. Schaars is not having a good game, and Martins/Santos/Carrico(before he came off) just aren't as good.

Maybe Bojinov will come on in the second half.

Maritimo looked organized, but clueless in attack. Sami with some good runs, but Baba has been invisible and gotten no service at all.

Ref has had a good half, having to dish out some cards for some bad tackles, rightly giving Martins a yellow for his dive, and in general telling the players to get up and play. Good stuff.

1-0 Sporting in the 48th minute.

Carrillo gets up well and sends a powerful header home off of a Diego Capel cross.

Yup, he's been your best player for sure.

Red card now to Igor Rossi as he brings down van Wolfswinkel in the box, who would have been in alone on the keeper.

Penalty coming up for Sporting.

Wolfswinkel misses the penalty.

Hard shot, but hits the left post and comes bouncing back out of the box.

Another penalty for Sporting.

Yellow card to Joao Guilherme for taking out Andre Carrillo in the box.

A red card and two penalties, but I'm sure Filipe will say the ref missed three more penalties and six more red cards. :pp

Wolfswinkel converts this time. 2-0 now in the 60th minute.

Same shot as the first penalty he missed, but about six inches to the right and enough to get inside the left post.
