Respect to Samp. They really pressed like maniacs. If they had played like that from the start they might have got something out of the game.

Amazing that we managed to make this game interesting after that first half. The entire team took the foot off the gas pedal. I forgot Barella was even on the pitch until the last few minutes when he was fouled a few times.

The 1st half was among the best I’ve seen from Inter this season, 2nd half very bad. Eriksen, needless to say, was Inter’s best player in this match ;)

We have seen this so many times this season: amazingly dominant and creative 1st half followed by an awful 2nd. Barca away, Dortmund away, Cagliari home etc etc.

Lukaku had some sublime moments but was wasteful in front of goal. Should have had a hattrick.

Barella and Gaglia completely imploded in the 2nd half. Very poor last 45 mins from both. Valero should have replaced one of them much earlier.

Biraghi was decent when he came on. Moses had much more energy than Candreva but terrible end product.

And despite an amazing season, De Vrij is really the player who landed us in hot water.

Lautaro non-existent in the 2nd half.

Doesn't really bode well for the rest of the season IMO.

Agree with Laudrup that Eriksen was MoM by far. Amazing 1st half and he only dropped off slightly in the 2nd

Also needless to say I thought substituting Eriksen was a bad decision. He’s not like an old-school trequartista. He’s used to playing 90 mins, was still among the best defensively, created chances and hardly made any mistakes at all.

Agree completely.

Gagliardini was garbage and should have been the first to go

Once Tonali is signed, right AND left wing back really have to be the priorities for the transfer market.

I liked Young a lot, but he was a bit off his game today.

More quality needed in those positions

Inter are specialists in making our own lives difficult. A match that looked like it was already won in the first half - against a team battling to avoid relegation - could have ended in a 2-2 draw. Lukaku should have finished that open goal chance, he should have made it 3-0 and yet he missed, and Samp went on to score a few minutes later on a set piece when De Vrij was having a nap and didn't mark Colley. Grazie Samir, important save in the 86th minute on a dangerous free kick. Hopefully we learn to kill games better. Forza Inter.

Glad this wasn't another Fiorentina/Cagliari though - 2 games we were strolling through and then drew. If we had just won those idiotic games we'd be right up there now.

But this could really have ended in disaster... Lukaku has to stop missing sitters...

Lazio still have Atalanta, Juve and Napoli away from home. Udinese and Torino away games may not be all that easy either.

We definitely have an easier fixture list.

Juve don't really have any tough away games left (Milan is prob the toughest) but have Atalanta, Lazio and Roma at home.

Should be an easy enough title win for them at the end of the day....

Cagliari game in Milano we were denied a penalty on Young though, at 1-0, that was pretty decisive. Even their Nainggolan equalizer was fortunate. Deflected.

Although we did drop a lot of points having led in games: Fiorentina, Lecce, Cagliari, Atalanta, Lazio... 11 points dropped from winning positions in the league, poor refereeing was decisive in 3 out of those 5 games though.

Chasing 2 teams is pretty difficult, but we need to go on a winning run just to add some pressure and then we'll see.

At least we look like almost sealing CL qualification early this season for a change.

12 points above Roma is pretty comfortable.

Sassuolo, our next opponent on Wednesday, lost heavily in Bergamo earlier today. 4-1.

We know that Sassuolo turn to Pep's Barca against us though. Even if we did beat them away this season (a game where we almost choked a 4-1 lead..)

My heart nearly stopped with the Berezynski shot that went wide, and with the late free kick Samir saved.

First time both Lukaku and Lautaro score in the same match since what, Napoli away in January perhaps?

Aside from having a great match, Eriksen also made the play of the match, imo - that return pass to Lukaku for the 1st goal. One additional touch or even a split-second delay meant that chance was gone and that really tells you about the kind of value he can add.

Lukaku also did very well and it looks like he's done really well to be match fit. Candreva deserves a lot of credit for his assist too...very well executed.

Excellent picture I found on a fb page.

After Barella wins the ball Candreva launches a pass from our half to Lukaku, and then Candreva reaches the Samp penalty area within 9 seconds to receive pass from Lukaku then Antonio assists Lautaro

In terms of being an attacking outlet yes but Maicon had to cover more distance/ground as a RB compared to a RWB (Candreva), a rwb is essentially part of midfield.

No penalty to Inter

Penalty to juve

The usual double standards we are used to in Serie A.
