DERBY County have completed the signing of Austrian international forward Andreas Weimann from Aston Villa.

Weimann has joined the Rams for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £2m, and has agreed a four-year contract at the iPro Stadium.

He becomes Derby's fourth summer signing so far, following the arrivals of striker Darren Bent, defender Alex Pearce and goalkeeper Scott Carson.

The Rams say there was interest in Weimann from "a number of Premier clubs"
"It goes without saying that we are very pleased to welcome Andreas Weimann to Derby County and we very much look forward to working with him," said Derby head coach Paul Clement.

"He has a good amount of top flight experience to his name and, at the age of 23, he still has a lot of potential.

"Andreas is an exciting talent and he will be a positive addition to the squad, along with the recent signings of Darren Bent, Alex Pearce and Scott Carson."

Weimann, 23, was born in Vienna and began his career at hometown club FC Stadlau before joining Rapid Vienna as a young teenager.

He came to England in 2007 after being snapped up by Villa.

The attacker, who has 13 international caps, made his Premier League debut in August 2010 and went on to score 24 goals in 129 appearances, including 91 starts, in all competition.

He has two loan spells with Watford during his time at Villa Park, scoring four times in 19 games in his first stint in 2011.

This one has been in the pipeline for the last couple of weeks, good to see it's finally all sorted. I like Wiemann, has plenty of potential that he can hopefully fulfil with us.

Believed to be 2 million, though it's undisclosed, but been a while since we spent that on a player. Squad looking good with Bent, Pearce and Carson already in.

Wow £2m? One of the bargains of the summer. Villa will struggle to find someone of his ability for £10m let alone £2m. Don't mean he's the second coming but in this wild market thats a great deal. Ross McCormack for £11m??

Yeah, not quite sure why Sherwood doesn't seem to rate him. Was surprised when we were first rumoured to be after him. He's premier league quality for me, so hopefully he can now get us there.

Yeah, McCormacks good, but in comparison this deal looks amazing.

Oh and he's signed a 4 year contract.

Wiemann getting some right stick of some derby fans :palm: he's not had a whirlwind start. But he's not played much, he also should be used as a forward and not stuck out on the left wing.

The moaning pricks have been out in force recently unfortunately. When you read some of the comments you wonder what planet they live on.

As a "closet-Villa" fan ( :err: ) he's a decent player. Not consistent, but on a good day he can get in to position, dribble, and finish it off.

Definitely a steal for the price you got him for. Good luck! :)

Yeah I saw a fair bit of him at Villa as my dad (though he follows derby more these days) and grandad are villa fans. Has the ability, especially at this level to be lethal. Trouble at Derby at the moment, starting last season is some fans are expecting to walk the league, so if we are not hammering teams they get straight on the players backs. Winds me right up.

When you consider Wiemann is the smallest transfer fee we paid this summer, shows A, what a steal it was. B, how overpriced English players are.

If we play two up front Wiemann should play, if it's 433 or 442 then it's a difficult choice.

Haha apparently so.

If Johnson and Butterfield don't have a storming game at Preston they'll probably get the same treatment.
