From an Inter Super Brand Player into a retiring Hull City recruit... how did that happen.

Scoring 103 goals from 143 appearances (wiki)., went over to be treated by a hyped Lab to 'upgrade' his career, ended up in worse shape, offloaded to Monaco in no time.

Then what... unimaginable $1000 per week... (make it sterlings, still the same) with Atalanta. What on earth is that :googly: I thought it was a joke, but .........

Then, Fiorentina and Prandelli did good in ensuring this guy was getting a proper job as a proper player, and proper respect. What next?

From C4 Today:

'Christian Vieri has been so horrified by the Atalanta fans’ hate campaign that he is moving abroad to sign for Hull City. '

Whaat ? Hate him for taking 1000/week?

The campaign to prevent this return took the form of a petition, posters plastered around the city of Bergamo and even a heap of rubbish poured on to the gates of the villa where Vieri was meant to be staying

Is it necessary? Even Stankovic had the gobbi-fans create online Petitions only.

According to the Daily Star, Vieri has agreed a £10,000 per week contract with Hull City.

Runs away to England. At least its better than 1k/week.

Dont know whether to feel sorry for this guy or laugh :howler:

If I'm being honest, I don't feel hatred for Vieri.

I don't feel much hatred towards him either, seeing Adriano out jump him for the 3-2 goal and his shite performance for Milan was pretty satisfying :sweeteye:, but there is no doubt he is a huge mercenary and has never cared about the fans, he has jumped ship left right and center , so there is no surprise not many fans have any love for him and it doesn't make me feel any pity for him to see him having lost his crazy predatory instincts he used to have or the fact he is now having a hard time finding a half decent club.

I cant completely hate a guy like Vieri after so many great years at Inter or a guy like Ronaldo who was of another planet while with us and is still my joint top favorite player.

“Football is my life – it’s my adrenaline. When I have the ball I am happy.”
CHRISTIAN VIERI, JULY 15, 2008
“If I was offered the same type of contract,” announced the striker who grew up in Australia, “then I would stop playing football and dedicate myself to cricket. That has always been my dream.”

Vieri: I’m Still Good Enough For Milan Or Inter
New Atalanta signing Christian Vieri has made a surprising declaration by claiming that he could and should have finished his career at either Milan or Inter.

Vieri excelled at Inter for most of his six years there from 1999 to 2005, but struggled badly at city rivals Milan during six months of the 2005/06 season.

Since this time he has played for Monaco, Atalanta and Fiorentina with mixed success, but he has been hounded by the press for being overweight and “finished”.

Vieri has just recently completed a controversial free transfer move back to Atalanta, but he insists that he made a mistake in not seeing out his career at either of the Milan giants.

“I made a mistake by leaving the great clubs that I played for,” the 35-year-old veteran told Chi Magazine.

“I could have finished my career at Inter or Milan.

“But there were too many messy situations and I couldn’t do it anymore.”

Vieri’s transfer to Atalanta was heavily opposed by the Atalanta fans, but he is confident he can win them over.

“I returned to Bergamo because my heart told me to. I will convince the fans by playing well, “he promised.

“I have always played because I enjoy it and the money is a secondary consideration. I signed a blank contract here with no figure on it.

“Football is my life – it’s my adrenaline. When I have the ball I am happy.”
