Gimme a break Marcoa - I am refering to that old post BTW - I never slammed anyone here, I just said Yugoslavia are IMO the best team in Eastern Europe and they will smash Romania in a head to head contest. I realise I may be wrong, but it's just my opinion on the matter,. I never insulted any Romanian and about the Raul thing - pretty pointless comparing him to Grandpa Baggio now isn't it. (BTW he's still 22 :)) Anyway I stand by my O that group D and C are the tuffest groups. The crap group is A - no real contenders:
Romania - average team, with great potential, nothing more
Portugal - same, but never impress when it matters
England - lucky to be here and should exit come the end of the group stage
Germany - weakest team. Can't even beat SUI! for crying out loud! If they win, well it'll be luck once again, not ability

Group C is the other big group. Just look at it -
Norway - very hard and better than any team from group A
Yugoslavia - dark horse, imensly talented. Sooo good on the day!
Spain - there performance in Europe this year sais it all - best team, but will they do it finally?
Slovenia - mr EASY, but will it really be that way? A bug ? here.

If you tell me a group consisted of YUG, ESP and NOR are weaker than a group with ENG, GER, ROM and POR I think I'mgonna laugh. Don't just look at the teams history! Look at their current form and that all but disclides the two "former" powerhouses ENG and GER. That's why group A is the sh|ttiest group.

hmmm.....I still think that Group A is the toughest. Yes GErmany is a crunbling team, but the Germans like the Italians are pedigree. They are computers...aka programmed to win. They'll make it tough for anyone.

You say Portugal is a good team but rarely impress...I will say the same about Yugoslavia. Romania is better than Norway any day of the week and England is better than Slovenia. I will say that SPain is better than Portugal. In that sense Group A is stronger.

Don't forget that SPain always chokes at the big stage.

P.S. Now that Vieri is not plaing for Da Italians u think Zoff will call up the great Baggio? :) ;)

To me it's just so difficult to choose between Yugoslavia and Romania. Yugo - such great individual talents, but not that fabulous as a team. Romania - more solid, perhaps not that many talents but when they have talents, wow! :D
And perhaps, Czech Rep. next. Ukraine is still young, but the prospect is rather bright.
Romania is just rather unlucky - they haven't really had their share of luck in these tournaments. WC 94 - had there not been the extra time! Euro '96 : that disallowed goal by Munteanu. True, perhaps in the qualifying rounds they're in 'nice' groups but in the actual tournaments themselves, more often than not - they're in the tough groups.
I hope Yugoslavia and Romania will go far in EURO 2000!

P.S. Labas don't let your apparent distaste for all that is english or german cloud your opinion. I don't like them either...but the Germans sure do make good cars.... :)
