Strongest football nation in East Europe

Sating Romania is not that good is crazy. Any team with Hagi and Ilie is O U T S T A N D I N G.....I think that the Romanians are legit contenders for the Euro title. Labas you go from forum to forum filling us with your "knowledge" and when we dare so otherwise you blast us and say we know nothing. Like if I were to say that say.....Baggio or Rivaldo are better than Raul or Morientes you'd freak on our asses claiming we know nothing about football...frankly I believe that Raul is better.......I don't dislike or not respect you. Its just that well you have to learn to respect other people's opinions. I mean if you were so football savvy you'd be running a real club...not one in Championship Manager like the rest of us

By the way Group A or Group D are the group(s) of Death at the Euro, with Group B being well balanced and Group C being a cakewalk for the Spaniards.

Why are you arguing so much. Euro 2000 is getting closer and we'd all see the great class of both of the teams, which no doubt is great. Let's wait and observe. I wish luck to both of them

let me just say again that romania will succeed in euro2000....they will make the semi finals at least.

Iabas, You should know something here. We are only two Romanians, me and EclipsE.

As a supporter, I'm most afraid of Portugal (actually, I'm afraid of Figo), but Garmany and England are very dangerous in the final tournament.
However, the weakest point of Poprtugal is Dimas. Am I right, Marcoa?

I'd like to see semi-finals like:
Romania - Slovenia
and
Yugoslavia - ???

If we don't get the title, then it will be a Holland - Portugal final. Figo can get them all the way as Hagi can get us all the way.

Portugal weakest point is there forwards. They can dribble, pass...but can't shoot and score. We don't have a dominant striker, hopefully Pauleta or Nuno Gomes can solve that this summer.

We have a scorer-by-committee system.

Marcao: The best example of what you said about your strikers came in that 1 - 0 defeat you suffered in Porto against us. But your team managed to fill the net against Azerbijan, Litchenstein and even Hungary more so that we did. I am guessing your strikers choke on the big occasion?

hmmm...we did beat Croatia at Euro 96 3-0. However at Euro 96 we scored 5 goals from 5 different players.

Eclipse: Pauleta did not play against Romania. I think the result may have been different had he played. Again our destiny lies in the hands (or feet ) of Nuno Gomes and Pauleta.

I think the predicitons about Turkey were right Turkey might be the biggest surprise in euro 2000. It really depends on which players coach denizli chhose to play in the midfield. because he sometimes choose the worst he can for the midfield positions.

But since he is the new coach for Fenernahce for next season(he made a new deal for $4million for 2 years), he will try to play Fener players. There is also this player called Tayfur in Besiktas. I have no idea why but he considers him his Joker player. But he sucks, damn i dony get it. There are many players that are much much better than he is.

Carlito, of course you can be the surprize. I also expect something from Slovenia, they are tough as well, but I think predictions now are inappropriate because yet no one showed their real potential. This tournament is inpredictable, and yet for me to say that Belgium is first in this group is funny, it's the same about Norway because they lack the technical potential of some other nations (anyone who saw Hagi, Stoikovic, and Savicevic knows what I mean).
Anyway we'll see. I guess that tournament is going to be the one of Eastern Europe.

As much as I respect Turkey's players and Turkish football. I think that they will get as far as the quarterfinals. I think it will be a surprise for many if they make it out of the group, BUT I expect them to get out of their group but fall in the quarters.

so you are saying that turkey can acutally beat sweden, italy and belguim out of the group...i just dont see that happening.

Italy is perdigree when they need a win they usually ( I said USUALLY) get it. Sweden and Belgium...well Belgium will have the home crowd so basically the other team to advance will be the winner on June 10th. Sorry Turkey I don't see more than perhaps a single point. Better than Euro 96 though.....

Ok i admit 96 was a total disaster nut i can definitely see Turkey beating Sweeden , Belgium and Italy, defnitely... If Terim was the coach, believe me we would go as far as finals cuz he knows who to choose. In 96 we didnt have a lot of players to choose from and never before.. but this year, believe me, we have so many young and talented players who have the spirit and confidence, specially the Gala ones.

I say again, if denizli makes he right choices, i bet u anything, we will at least pass to the quarter finals

Its very tough to pick it becasue while I would like to say Yugoslavia (who do have great individua talent) they dont play as well as Romania,Turkey and the Czecks as a team.So it really depends on the day which turned out better, the individual talent or the team effort even though team effort is more important.There can be no real answer.
But it is good to see that we easterners can compete with the so called "best in the west"
