Actually I was doing some work tonight and I sat there thinking and I realized that based on the way Stankovic has played for Inter, I wouldn't be suprised to find out he really is dead....football sense dead I mean.

Stan explains title slip
Friday 24 February, 2006
Dejan Stankovic believes that his Inter side lost their chance to win Lo Scudetto back in November.

Although the Nerazzurri seemingly handed Juventus the title earlier this month following their 2-1 loss at the San Siro, the midfielder insists his outfit actually surrendered the championship much sooner.

“There are no excuses or secrets as to why Juventus have such an advantage over us,” he exclusively told Football Italia. “Juventus have set a stunning pace, above all expectations.

“As for ourselves, we messed up against Roma, Sampdoria and Lazio, a trio of games which only gave us two points.

“We should’ve got at least seven from those matches. During that period, Juve took advantage.

“However, the fact that other sides like Milan are at a distance too means that consistency is the key factor for them this term.”

The reigning champions currently lead the Scudetto standings by 10 points over Milan and are 12 clear of the Nerazzurri.

Nevertheless, Stankovic is confident that he could lift some silverware this term with the Champions League and the World Cup amongst his remaining objectives.

Serbia and Montenegro have been drawn in one of the toughest Germany ’06 groups, but he’s confident his nation can qualify ahead of Argentina, Holland and the Ivory Coast.

“I’m aware that the World Cup will be special for Serbia – the players and the people,” added the former Lazio man who netted in the 2-2 draw at Ajax on Wednesday.

“We have been put in a group which people say is very difficult, but we are convinced that we can be the surprise team of our section and also the Finals themselves.”
