World Cup stadium closed because of cracked roof :frustrat:

December 2, 2005

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany (AP) -- FC Kaiserslautern's stadium was closed Friday because of cracks in the roof covering the stands, raising concerns the arena won't be ready for the World Cup.

The closure of Fritz-Walter stadium forced a postponement of Saturday's Bundesliga match against Frankfurt until Dec. 14.

The cracks were discovered on stands being expanded to seat 48,000 for the World Cup. One of 12 World Cup venues, it will host four first-round matches and a quarterfinal.

Germany's World Cup committee said it wasn't worried so long as reconstruction was finished on time for soccer's showcase event.

The arena, built in 1919, is one of Germany's oldest.

That was one of the problem with Mirko that ask more money for the team instead of the stadium remodeling
The fact is that will be remodelling step by step so wont be closed for 1 year as B&N said at first, so Copa Libertadores will be played in the Monumental.
We dont know yet what kind of works will be the first in be done. But the "Noche Alba" will be in january 6th ... how nice to have again our wonderful Noche Alba  :D
