hiya folks :)

As we all know, the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium is Inter & Milan's home ground. It's also known as the San Siro. So why don't we list out names and nicknames (official or otherwise) of other stadiums around the world? And if you know why, for example, that the Giuseppe Meazza is known as the San Siro, do write down the reason. :)

I'll start off with these:

Juventus: Stadio Delle Alpi
Real Madrid: Santiago Bernabeu
Barcelona: Nou Camp
Roma & Lazio: Stadio Olimpico
Parma: Ennio Tardini
Inter & Milan: Giuseppe Meazza (aka San Siro)

Intereting subject. The one thnig i really hate with stadium names is when they are sponsored. For example, the new Leicester City Stadium is to be called "The Walkers Bowl" after crisp manufacturers Walkers. Other eaxamples - The Reebok Stadium, The JJB stadium, The McAlpine Stadium. Anyone else hate this?

LIT, I have a question.

The home ground of Vfb Stuttgart is called Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion. I guess I would know where the part "Daimler" comes from, but who or what is that "Gottlieb"?!

And please refresh my poor memory: do you know the name of the home ground of Unterhaching, that small team in the suburb of Munich? :)

FYI ... I posted something to this respect on the Leicester Thread ..... They HAVE dropped the BOWL from the name...at least. (The sponsor's name still there though !!!!) ;)

The new Leicester one will be called the Walkers bowl... hate the company named ones that are coming in here such as:

So'ton - Friends Providence St Mary's
Wigan - JJB Stadium
Stoke - Brittania stadium
There's one more I'm sure but can't think of it right now

Wales' national stadium is called the Millenium Stadium and was built by 1999.... don't know where they got the name from though;)
