SV Sandhausen were once my local club and I thought it would be interesting to see how far I can take them in Championship Manager. They are not the only local club I have ever had, but the other ones are so obscure that they were not including in Championship Manager. Unfortunately, I never paid much attention to SV Sandhausen while living there, but that doesn't prevent me from trying to lead them to domestic, and possibly international, glory.

It it is not a new idea. I have thought about it before, but either I was too busy with another club or I did not have the German leagues running in the first place. This time, however, I am going to keep a close eye on the Regionalliga and will apply for a job as soon as SV Sandhausen are promoted. The fact that they are currently in the Oberliga Baden Württemberg, and that I therefore have to wait for the computer to promote them to the Regionalliga, is the only reason for why I won't take over the club immediately. Meanwhile, I will lead FC Bayern Munich, after having managed Borussia Dortmund the previous few times in Germany.

It'll be a monster of a game and as slow as molasses kept in the freezer. Why? Because for kicks I decided to include every country bordering on Germany. That means all of the leagues from Denmark, Holland, Belgium, France, Swizterland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Poland, besides Germany itself. All set to Full Detail. Ouch.

At the start of the season the transfers were pretty much like with Real Madrid. Again, Mexes and Renato joined the senior squad, and Arrieta and Estefania joined the youth system. Litex turned down my bids for Todorov, but I am sure I can persuade them eventually.

Going the other way, an aging Lizerazu left for Chelsea, and Hargreaves thinned our overcrowded midfield by departing for Real Sociadad.

A typical line-up is...

Kahn
Sagnol-Kovac-Mexes-Rau
Salihamidzic-Ballack-Jeremies-Ze Roberto
Roque Santa Cruz-Pizzaro

Bench: Rensing, Demicheli, Renato, Deisler, Zickler, Maakay, Scholl

With 4-4-2 kantspel of course...

The season began with the German League Cup semi final. It was a nice 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin. Then came a narrow 1-0 win in the final against the Hamburger SV. Only two matches and we had our first trophy already, albeit a very minor one at that. Then came an encouraging 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen and a 3-0 over Freiburg. The line-up was changing constantly at the time, because there are many players on the roster that very equal in talent.

Osnabrück were defeated 2-0 in the first round of the German Cup, and rivals Dortmund were easily beaten 3-1. Renato, Roque Santa Cruz, and Pizzaro all scored goals, and then both goals in our 2-0 league win over Stuttgart. So far so good. kantspel was doing its thing as always, though the mentality was set to normal. Then we suffered our first defeat, however; a 0-1 loss to Hannover.

I set the mentality to Gung Ho, and then the fun really began. First came a 3-1 win over Marseille in the Champions League to start things off. A 5-0 win over Kaiserslautern followed, with Pizzaro scoring twice and Roque Santa Cruz getting a hat trick. A 1-1 league draw against Hertha Berlin slowed us briefly, but Besiktas and Frankfurt both became the victims of our wrath when we demolished both 6-1. Roque Santa Cruz scored an amazing five goals in the first match, while he scored twice and Pizzaro got a hat trick for the second match.

Todorov might still be with Litex, but Pizzaro and Roque Santa Cruz are looking to repeat his performances from Real Madrid. Pizzaro has already netted 11 goals in 10 matches, and Roque Santa Cruz 15 in 8 matches.

Helpless Köln were demolished 5-0 next, the hat trick courtesy of Santa Cruz and the other two goals coming from Pizarro. Santa Cruz took control of the next match, a tie against BATE in the Champions League, and scored four goals in a 5-1 thriller. 1860 München had it slightly better in the Munich derby, getting beat "only" 3-0, but then the Hamburger SV got the usual taste of us with another 5-0 smacking. This time the goal distribution was wider, with Roque Santa Cruz, Pizarro, Ze Roberto, Deisler, and Scholl all finding the net. We fielded our second team for our second match against BATE and still won 4-0. The next game, against Werder Bremen, was more difficult and we got a narrow 2-1 win, but then the second team had a great performance and a 5-0 win against St. Pauli in the second round of the German Cup.

Pizarro scored a hat trick in our 5-1 league win against Bochum, and then everyone took turns scoring goals in our 5-0 win against Marseille. Schalke 04 fared better and managed to keep is down to a 3-1 win. But then Nürnberg, in the third round of the German Cup, got the worst of us, and Roque Santa Cruz scored five goals in our 10-1 win. Then disaster struck against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and the 1-1 result was not the word of it. Roque Santa Cruz suffered a slipped disk and would be out for at least three months. Up until that point he had scored 34 times in 17 matches--a perfect two goals per game scoring rate. At least Maakay, who had been warming the bench, will get a few chances now.

Besiktas held us to a scoreless draw after that unfortunate match against Gladbach. We got back on our feet very quickly, however, and then disposed of Wolfsburg with a great 8-1 win. Deisler and Maakay each scored twice, and Pizarro scored another hat trick. Then we had a thrilling 6-3 win over Kaiserslautern in the quarter final of the German Cup. Rostock played well in the lead and kept our win down to 3-1, with Deisler and Zickler scoring our goals. But then came another shock with a 0-1 defeat to an underperforming Bayer Leverkusen. On the bright side, it was only our second defeat of the season, and so it was not the end of the world.

Six consecutive wins followed. Everyone took turns scoring goals in our 6-3 defeat of Freiburg, Zickler and Pizarro won our 3-0 match against Dortmund, and then came a respectable 2-0 win against Herta Berlin in the semi finals of the German Cup. Zickler added more goals to his tally in our 3-1 win over Stuttgart. Then we got really wild... Zickler, Pizarro, Salihamidzic, Deisler, Pizarro, Demichelis, Pizarro, Ballack, Ballack, and Pizarro. That's how the scoring sheet looked in our 10-2 win over Hannover. Then came a 3-0 win over Hertha Berlin in the league. Finally, our winning streak was interrupted by a 0-0 draw with Lazio in the first leg of the second round of the Champions League.

Things slowed down a bit, though only relatively speaking. First came a narrow 1-0 win over Frankfurt and then a casual 3-1 win over Kaiserslautern. Pizarro scored twice against Lazio to help us reach the quarter finals of the Champions League. Zickler scored three and Salihamidzic one in our 4-0 win in the Munich derby, but then we suffered our heaviest defeat of the season when Köln put two past us in the league. We tried to improve by winning the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals against Inter 4-1, with Maakay scoring a hattrick. The scoreline was duplicated with a 4-1 league win over Hamburger SV, but there Roque Santa Cruz scored three on his debut back from injury.

First we qualified for the semi finals with a narrow 2-1 win over Inter in the second leg. Then came narrow 4-3 and 1-0 victories against Werder Bremen and Bochum in the league. Roque Santa Cruz continued his amazing goal run by scoring three in our 3-1 win over Manchester United in the first leg of the semi finals. Then Pizarro and Maakay took over the scoring duties in our 2-0 win over Schalke 04, before we suffered our fourth and last defeat of the season with a 0-1 loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach by our second team. Finally, our place in the Champions League final was guaranteed after a repeat 3-1 win over Man Utd. Ze Roberto, Ballack, and Santa Cruz got the job done.

It was time to get crazy again--extremely crazy--and therefore decided to have more fun with Wolfburg by beating them 7-1. The incredible thing about this match was that not three, not four, not five, but six of the goals came from Roque Santa Cruz! He could not be stopped. Then we completed our domestic league campaign with a 3-0 win over Hansa Rostock. Naturally, we had won the league a few matches earlier, having accumulated a 24-point lead over second placed Leverkusen. Our success continued with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart in the German Cup final, and with a 2-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League final.

Yes, we swept up all possible silverware:

1 x German League Cup
1 x Bundesliga
1 x German Cup
1 x UEFA Champions League

In the league we had a nice 28-2-4 record, scoring 111 goals and conceding only 26. In the German cup we scored a very nice 28 goals and in the Champions League 39.

Roque Santa Cruz scored 50 of those goals in 27 matches, Pizarro 43 goals in 43 matches, Maakay 15 in 17, and Zickler 15 in 18.
