SOUSA DOESN'T WANT TO GO TO GREECE
Local rivals Panathinaikos and Olympiakos are being linked with a move for Inter's Portuguese international Paulo Sousa – but they are set to be disappointed as the midfielder is happy in Italy.
The 30-year-old star, who spent last season on loan at Serie A rivals Parma, has spent most of Euro 2000 on the bench but this will not stop the Athens clubs from signing him if they can agree a deal with Inter.
The San Siro club have also been approached by German giants Bayern Munich - but onefootball.com understands that Sousa loves la dolce vita in Italy, and his wife Cristina has no intention of leaving Milan until she finishes her studies at the university.
Panathinaikos are under pressure to make a big signing this summer after Olympiakos, the current Greek champions, snapped up Brazilian Ze Elias, also from Inter. Panathinaikos fans are demanding a signing of a similar stature.
The club will also see Sousa as an ideal replacement for the holding midfielder Erik Mykland, who has left for 1860 Munich. PAO are reported to be tempting Inter by offering their 24-year-old striker Nikolaos Liberopoulos as part of the deal.
The experienced Sousa has played at a host of Europe's top clubs including Juventus, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Dortmund, where he won back-to-back European titles.
A series of injuries prevented him from holding down a regular place in Serie A.
