Spain has two direct places in the CL, and two places in the qualifying series. The winner of the CL-final is certain of a direct spot for next year's CL. So the winner of La Liga and the winner of the CL have a direct place in the CL. That leaves the places 2&3 for playing qualifying-matches.

IF WE DON'T WIN LA LIGA WE WILL HAVE TO PLAY CL-QUALIFYING-MATCHES!!!!!

Very good, and frightening point. I could see Barca loosing to some lowly team from Moldova or something just because we take them lightly in the away leg.

Are you sure that a Spanish team winning won't give Spain an extra spot in the CL?

So if Valencia win the CL and Depor win the league with Barca second all three qualify automatically. Then the lesser teams - Madrid etc can play Liverpool for qualification.

No, there can only be 4 Spanish clubs in the CL. Even if Valencia or Real Madrid finish below the 4th spot and win the CL there still will be only 4 teams in there. So really, you have to get third place to ensure you can at least get into the CL qualification round.

So now Valencia will have to qualify to get to the CL, but of course they''ll qualify, unless many players of the team that played so well this season decide to go to bigger clubs, then Valencia will have some serious re-building to do.
