OK, so it's established that Beñat, more of a natural DM, is playing out of position and hasn't been doing the job at CAM, Ander Herrera's old spot. What can be done? I have two solutions:

1) Bump Mikel Rico up to CAM and let Beñat slide into his natural position.

Iraizoz

De Marcos - Gurpegi - Laporte - Balenziaga

Iturraspe - Beñat

Muniain - Mikel Rico - Ibai

Aduriz

2) Go to a 4-4-2 diamond midfield with Viguera in the middle as a false 9. He's too slow to be a winger but maybe he can act as a sort of de facto second striker here by playing a little higher up the pitch.

Iraizoz

De Marcos - Gurpegi - Laporte - Balenziaga

Iturraspe

Muniain ------- Mikel Rico

Viguera

Aduriz ------- Ibai

Thoughts?

Don't know if Vigüera can play there, thought he's more of a natural striker. As for Rico I see him more as a DM as well, at least not as a creative mind...

Isn't it an option to play Susaeta, Muniain and Ibai in a row behind Aduriz?

Or perhaps giving Aketxe a chance?

I was thinking of Viguera as more of a false 9, but yes. The other option I forgot to include (which Valverde has discussed in the past) was putting Muniain in the middle:

Iraizoz

De Marcos - Gurpegi - Laporte - Balenziaga

Iturraspe - Mikel Rico

Susaeta - Muniain - Ibai

Aduriz
