is looking forward to more first team action at Manchester United next season, after Sir Alex Ferguson's failed bid to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Norwegian international will go head-to-head with Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and Teddy Sheringham again for the two forward slots as Ferguson prepares to rotate his squad to cover another hectic campaign.

Northern Ireland youngster David Healy may be added to the equation at some stage of the season, but Solskjaer is hopeful that he can shrug off his 'super-sub' reputation.

"I spoke to Alex Ferguson at the end of last season and he guaranteed me that my performances will decide how much time I will get on the field," said the former Molde marksman.
