Staale Solbakken has again announced his retirement from international football, following his side's early exit from Euro 2000.

Solbakken had announced his decision to retire from the national side after France 98, but then decided to delay his exit until after the championships, which finished in devastating circumstances for his country.

The former Wimbledon player, now plying his trade with Danish side Aalborg, will be sorely missed by Norway as they look to recover quickly from their disappointment at losing a place in the quarter finals to Spain, when Jose Antonio Camacho's side scored two injury time goals to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Yugoslavia.
