In a word, yes.

We will never achieve anything with him at the helm, and we might as well give the reigns to someone who possibly could. He's mediocre at best.
Thats anyones guess, i never expected us to win or challenge for title after coming back to serie a. No manager would have managed to do that, with the squad we had. Now its different though, and questions rise mainly over the transfer policy. Now with the injury crisis it comes out even more clear.

Was it only Ranieris fault we couldnt get Vaart? Was it Seccos fault we couldnt get Alonso and went for Poulsen as alternative who hasnt really delivered.

I dont really know who to blame most when it comes to transfers. A manager like Mourinho would make sure he has a big say in transfers. Maybe thats why we opted for Ranieri in the first place. "You do your work and keep your mouth shut and everyone is happy".
One could argue that if the Agnelli's would write a check in order to sign Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and Ibra, probably Ranieri would not oppose the move :smileani:

Didn't Ranieri have such a luxury with Chelsea 2003/2004? And what did he achieve? ;)
A puppet...which has the full backing of management, because they decided the [crappy] transfer campaign!

How many 'failed superstar' targets did Juve's management 'achieve':

Pepe (Real Madrid)
Ever Banega (Valencia)
Rafael Van der Vaart (Real Madrid)
Diego (Werder)
Xabi Alonso (Liverpool)
Gabriel Milito (the defender, Barca)
...as stated earlier, Juve already spend far more than Milan. With these signings you lot would level Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter as far as spending goes.

Anyway, if I well understood, most Gobbi here believe that another trainer would have topped Seria A aswell as the CL group. You lot know Juve stuff better than Ol'Diav, so I'll leave it here :)
Your intent with this thread is a poor attempt Diavolo :pp Actually thought you wanted to address the topic just for it self, but nah ;)

In all fairness not really. Living in Italy, allows me to hear lots of stuff. I've been hearing a number of Juve fans suggesting that Ranieri should have been fired after Napoli vs Juve. As a follow up, now that Juve are almost qualified in CL and are well performing in Serie A, after having qualified to the CL last season, my question is simple.
Would another coach done better?

This is my reply too.
Any coach SHOULD get a top 4 position with this Juventus squad, and I think we will get that whether Ranieri stays on or not.
I don't believe Ranieri will be the right man to make us anything better than that in the long term. Market notwithstanding.

As for something else, obviously now the reality is that it cannot possibly happen unless for another lengthy run of bad results. Which of course I hope won't occur.
Oh come on Diavolo, we havent performed well in serie a, yeah couple of wins in a row, but look where we stand in serie a.

Yes i do believe another coach would've.

We still needed a moment of Del Piero brilliance to open the scoring against both Real and Roma, and the only time we looked convincing since the start of the season was after we scored the second goal early on against Roma. In that scenario versus the only team who is arguably struggling more than us, two goals up at home, it was not a shock that we managed to outplay them. However, they were still the better team in the first half before we scored, and that just tells you everything.

I think Ranieri is lucky to have whatever remnants we have of Capello's team, and that has been the reason we've done as well as we have, in addition to Amauri's nifty goal count. But in terms of how we play in general and how we reinforced during this summer's mercato, it's clear Ranieri is not who we need to bring us to the next level.

You have almost qualified for the CL though, with your group being a tough one.
Again, if another coach was in charge, where do you see him out-performing Ranieri?
One thing btw. Our victories in A this season - we had a non-convincing win against Udinese early on. The other four have come against teams currently positioned among the five last teams in A. We meet the remaining bottom feeder - Chievo - next time.

The only dominant game I have seen from us was this one against Roma, and that's of course somewhat special because its a big club, but they surely have a lot of problems. I think it is too early to say that we are out of the woods yet.

The Special One's Inter is on par with Ranieri then.
Ranieri lost me when he admitted we were playing for a draw against Napoli. My fear is that we'll get someone really incompetent thanks to our not very bright current management.

Would another coach done better? In terms of results for now - hardly, but the way we play can really hurt you if you support this team. Another coach could have said- NO, we dont need a player like Poulsen, lets spend the mony on a new left back or a more creative midfielder for instance. And in a long term we cant win anything with a coach who is content with a draw away from home. Juventus should always challenge for the title, i think it goes without saying Diavolo?

Don't know about his days at Juve, but even Capello had to shut-up with regards to signings when he was our trainer. Fair to add that Mourinho insisted and won his battle for Quaresma, but generally speaking, despite appearances, it's the board that signs players, hardly ever coaches.
In our case, Ranieri spefically said he did NOT want VDV and Xabi Alonso, two players that would have been easy to sign (VDV in particular would not been too costly), who wanted to come, wasnt really any obstacles except Ranieri NOT wanting them. He instead opted for meagre signings like Poulsen, Mellberg, Knezevic etc. He has leeway in improving our squad, and he has said often he has gotten players he asked for.

Huh? Osman i thought Ranieri wanted Xabi Alonso, you mean Diego i guess?
Ranieri is good. I don't know how you can still want him fired. He killed big teams last year and he will continue to do so this year with the injuries back.

The biggest weakpoint of course is the mercato. I don't know if he controls this. If he does, he's done badly this year but not signing guys like Xabi and VDV I think is a great thing. It's not cool to only buy filler but VDV and Xabi aren't improvements at all.
It was premature from the beginning to want him be fired. A couple of bad results at the beginning of the season during a big injury crisis isn't saying much. And I don't see many decent options to replace him either. So unless he loses the locker room (which doesn't seem to be the case) and unless we are in serious danger to miss out on our season targets he should not be fired. So far he has achieved what he had to achieve and what was reasonably to expect.

With our injured players coming back I expect a top 4 finish in Serie A and improvements in our overall play. Everything else is up for discussion at the end of the season.

Nah, you missed his most retarded comment some month ago. He said he didnt want Xabi because he is too slow. That he wanted Poulsen because fullfills the needs he wanted to strenghten, while Xabi is "too slow". A reason that makes zero sense.

The funniest part is he wants strong defensive DM like Poulsen, he wants competent defensive capablity in the midfield. But he completely ignores that quality requirement for the ACTUAL defence. He gets players like Mellberg, Knezevic to "improve" us, and thinks Molinaro and Grygera are good enough, when they are one liabilities defensively.
